amazon JABRA ELITE 85T reviews
At the end of 2020, Jabra has launched the Jabra Elite 85T headset with Jabra’s announced features such as active noise cancellation, long battery life, better sound quality than the Jabra 75T series, and many more optimized technologies.
Design
The front of the 85T is lighter, smaller than the outstanding spec sheet introducing the active noise cancellation feature.
The back is an image of a headset with a charging dock, extra earplugs, and basic specifications such as driver diameter, battery, water resistance, number of conversational mics.
The side is printed with an image of Jabra 85T headphones and an introduction to Jabra’s sound philosophy.
The box’s design is quite luxurious; the inside includes a headset, type-C charging cable, auxiliary button, charging dock.
The charging box of the 85T version is somewhat fatter than the 75T sport version.
HOUSING DESIGN
Going into the design details of the Jabra Elite 85t, this is the same in-ear form as the 75t, but the 85t is a bit bigger and heavier with a weight of only 7g.
The housing 85T is larger and placed in the dock deeper than the 75T line. The 85t’s ear tips are made oval, not like the circle on the 75t’s buttons.
The 85t’s charging box is also a bit fatter than the 75t so that it can be easily carried in a pocket.
The design remains the same traditional 75T design but still has elegant dress and manly. The 85T’s ear-fit will be closer to the 75T and much tighter.
Features of Jabra 85T true wireless headphones
ACTIVE NOISE ANC
After upgrading the sound + application to update the active noise cancellation feature on the headphones, you can now compare the 85T vs. 75T more clearly. Jabra Elite 85T can cancel active noise better than the passive of the previous 75T series.
Jabra Elite 85T is thicker than 75T but more comfortable to wear and still close to the ear. When I turned off the active noise canceling mode on the app, my feeling was comfortable and not as mysterious as the 75t. That means that the passive noise cancellation will now be less than 75T. In return, active noise cancellation uses back-feedback sound reproduction technology. It has very good noise isolation because it was used on the Sony WF-1000XM3, so the noise cancellation is clearer and more sealed.
CONNECTED 2 DEVICES AT THE SAME TIME
One more innovative feature that 75T does not have is connecting to 2 phones simultaneously. To connect simultaneously, you need to temporarily turn off the old device’s Bluetooth and then connect the 85T with the new device to use both devices with the headset. However, when there is an incoming call or listening to music, we can only use it on one device. The advantage of connecting two machines is that there is no interruption in communication, which is very convenient for those with many phone numbers or mobile devices.
HEAT THROUGH
This feature helps you still hear the people around you talking or the traffic on the road. That is not new when the previous 65T or 75T lines have been successfully integrated and launched.
PROXIMITY SENSOR
The 85T headset will automatically stop music when you lift any earphone out of your ear; it will help you pause listening to music as quickly as possible before pressing the pause key. That means more battery life for headphones and phones when not needed.
MY SOUND
My sound is an ear measurement feature from which you can choose the appropriate sound profile for your ears depending on the level of hearing of your ears. This feature is only available on high-end headphones such as Airpods Pro, Sennheiser Momentum 2.
One thing that is a bit disappointing is that, like on the Jabra 75T, the 85T does not support the aptX audio standard but only reaches AAC and SBC, so many music fans are not very happy.
Control and connect
Still using hard keys, so the control is more accurate, but many high-end headphones today have switched to touch control for a long time. Therefore, keeping the physical keypress represents Jabra’s pragmatic philosophy, for those who have used it in sweat or dirty hands will understand how pressing the key is.
We have a clip on how to use, reset, and manipulate the smartphone application to help you follow more easily. Manual operation, but the press is very light and easy to do, feels no need or subsidence, and we have the same control point.
Phone calls and calls
Right ear:
– Press one time to receive calls
– tap two times to reject the call or end the call
– long press to increase the listening volume during the call
– Press once to enable/disable the microphone while on a call
Left ear: similar to the right ear, but long press to reduce the volume.
To activate noise cancellation (ANC), HearThroudh, or call the virtual assistant, we press on the left ear once to switch between ANC modes through Hearthrough or vice versa. When pressing twice on the right ear, it will call the virtual assistant feature (Google Assistant, Apple Siri)
In addition, you can completely reassign the above controls according to your usage habits and adjust the sound on the available Jabra Sound+ application.
Jabra 85T, you can only use one right ear independently, like the 65T and 75T series. Hopefully, in the next generation, Jabra will set up an independent 2-ear mode so that players can choose more.
Water-resistant only IPX4
Compared to Jabra 75T, 85T has a lower waterproof score, reaching only IPX4, while on Elite 75t, it is IP55. That means that the company has reduced the sportiness of the 85T product.
Headphones are bigger and thicker, so water will also be more difficult to penetrate. Although more passive, it is still seen that playing sports, sweat, and splash is also difficult to penetrate.
The call quality of Jabra 85T
Jabra Elite 85T headphones are integrated with up to 3 mics on each side for clearer and better recording quality than 75T. When observing the housing body, you will see that the three mics are balanced and create a better center point for recording conversations.
On Jabra Elite 85t equipped with six microphones for good call quality, but only good in quiet environments or a room with no wind.
But when you are out on the street or in a noisy environment, your call may be interrupted and not doing a good job of talking; if you are a shipper or have to go out often, Jabra Elite 85t is not an optimal choice.
Battery life
The battery life of the Jabra Elite 85T headset is average today.
Music can be heard continuously for 7 hours (without ANC) on each headset and reaches 5.5 hours when active noise cancellation ANC is turned on.
The total time can be added 24h (without ANC) and 19.5h with ANC when included with the charging box.
The type C charging port on the 85T supports wireless charging with QI standard, fast charging for 15 minutes, and listening for 60 minutes. That is a basic and useful improvement for today’s expensive technology products.
The sound quality of the 85T series
To talk about the sound quality when playing music, watching movies, and games, all achieve stable, balanced emphasis.
The Jabra Elite 85t has a 12mm driver that’s twice as large as the 75T for a bit more detail and presence than the 75T. The sound field of the 85T series is also wider.
Using familiar music tests such as Hotel California, Despacito in lossless quality.
On the Jabra Elite 85t, the bass range is softer, neat, not encroaching, and violent like the 75T series. Those who like moderate bass in the 65T series will find the 85T has better bass detail, softer and deeper.
The thinner mid-range is somewhat smooth in female voices but slightly rippled in male voices. The high mid-range has a moderately high rise, not too harsh and sharp like the 75T.
Summary
Jabra Elite 85t headset is a slight upgrade improvement of Jabra 75t with better sound quality, more moderate bass range, longer battery, connecting two devices simultaneously. The headset is more suitable for music lovers than sports athletes because the waterproof standard is also reduced.
