Apple AirPods Pro is the champion in the category of best headphones at Tech Award 2019. Are you planning to own one of these headphones, or are you already using it? So, do you know all the features and operations on Airpods Pro yet? Let’s learn together 14 tips to use this headset effectively.

Take out AirPods Pro properly

Ever get frustrated trying to get every AirPods Pro out of its charging case? If that’s the case, then you’re probably getting it the wrong way.

Apple-designed the headphones to press the back of each ear with your index finger, and they automatically pop out of the box.

Activate the noise cancellation feature

Option 1: Use a force sensor

To switch back and forth between noise cancellation and Transparency, use two fingers and then tap and hold for 2 to 3 seconds to switch back and forth. If you hear a ding and a light click, you’ve done the right thing.

Option 2: Use Control Center

1. Open Control Center by scrolling from the top right corner (if you have a newer iPhone) or vice versa (if you have an older iPhone).
2. Hold down the volume up and down buttons (this time, the device will show AirPods Pro).
3. Please change back and forth between the modes you want.

Option 3: Bluetooth settings

You can also access these settings on your iPhone.

1. Go to Settings -> Bluetooth -> letter i next to AirPods Pro.
2. You can choose to add Noise Control to change the settings.
3. Below the Noise Control section are settings that you can change on both sides of the AirPods Pro headset to control noise cancellation / Transparency or activate Siri.
4. You can also turn off noise canceling and Transparency when making changes in Noise Control with a force-sensing operation.

III. Tap to check wireless charging status

AirPods Pro comes with a wireless charging case, and you can charge it on most other third-party charging docks that use the Qi standard. If you’re wirelessly charging your AirPods Pro, there’s an operation to check its charging status quickly.

1. Place the charging case on the charging dock – the light will turn on for a few seconds, then turn off when it starts charging.
2. To check the charging status anytime you want, touch the charging case, and the light will light up.
3. Note about the color of the light: Orange light means it is still charging, and green means it is fully charged.
4. Turn on noise cancellation when using one ear

You can use the noise cancellation feature when using only one ear of the Airpods Pro, which is useful if you receive calls with only one ear.

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Tap Accessibility – AirPods.
3. Enable the option of Noise Cancellation on One Airpods (Noise Cancellation on One AirPod).

Noise control through Apple Watch

Most AirPods Pro users will know they can switch between noise control features or turn it off completely from the iPhone’s Control Center. But what few people know is that you can also access the same functions on the Apple Watch.

1. Make sure your AirPods Pro is connected to your iPhone and sound is playing.
2. Raise your wrist to wake the Apple Watch.
3. tap the icon with the triangle and three circles in the lower-left corner on the Now Playing screen.
4. Tap your AirPods Pro in the list.

Use AirPods Pro as a remote microphone.

AirPods Pro support Apple’s Live Listen to feature, which uses your iPhone as a microphone and transfers the captured iPhone sounds into the headphones, even when the AirPods are in another room.

– Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

– Select Control Center – Customize Controls (Control Center – Customize Controls).

– Click the blue + sign in front of the Hearing icon.

– Open Control Center by swiping down from the top right corner of the screen (for iPhone 8 and below, swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen).

– Click on the Listen ear icon.

– Click Live Listen.

– Place your iPhone close to the person you want to listen.

VII. Share audio between two pairs of AirPods

If you’re running iOS 13.1 or later, Apple’s Audio Sharing lets you share your device’s Bluetooth audio with a second pair of AirPods, so both people can listen to music together while running or enjoying a movie on the plane without disturbing the people around you.

1. Start playing audio on your iPhone or iPad with your AirPods.
2. Open Control Center by swiping down from the top-right corner of the screen or swiping up from the bottom edge of your device has a home button.
3. Click the icon with the triangle and three circles on the music player module.
4. Put your friend’s AirPods in the charging case, bring it close to your device, and open the lid.
5. You will see a message on the screen with the Audio Sharing option.

VIII. Use one ear to prolong the listening time

The AirPods Pro has great stereo sound quality when the two are combined, but Apple designed the headphones to be wireless, so you can also use them individually if you want.

1. Put any AirPod in your ear and leave the other in the charging case – the H1 chip will automatically detect which one is in use.
2. When you hear low battery volume from the AirPod you’re wearing, switch to the one in the charging case.
3. Keep switching between them like that to keep listening as long as your charging case has a battery left.

Note that when you use only one side of the left or right AirPod, the stereo signal is automatically converted to mono output so that you won’t miss a thing.

Adjust the press and hold time

If you’re having trouble using the AirPods Pro’s force sensor by squeezing too long on your body, try adjusting the squeeze time to see if it makes it easier.

– Open the Settings app on the device to which AirPods Pro is connected.

– Select Accessibility – AirPods.

– In the Press and Hold Duration section, select Default, Short, or Very Short.

– In the Press Speed section, select Default, Slow, or Slowest.

Locate AirPods Pro

If you’ve lost or misplaced your AirPods Pro, you can find its last location in the Find My app.

1. Open the Find My app on your iOS device (or access it in any browser through iCloud.com).
2. Tap the Devices tab at the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap your AirPods Pro in the list.
4. Tap Play Sound if you’re pretty sure your Airpods are somewhere you can hear them. If you don’t know where you lost your Airpods, the last place it was connected to will be displayed on the map – tap Directions to find the last known location.
5. Locate AirPods Pro

If you’ve lost or misplaced your AirPods Pro, you can find its last location in the Find My app.

1. Open the Find My app on your iOS device (or access it in any browser through iCloud.com).
2. Tap the Devices tab at the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap your AirPods Pro in the list.
4. Tap Play Sound if you’re pretty sure your Airpods are somewhere you can hear them. If you don’t know where you lost your Airpods, the last place it was connected to will be displayed on the map – tap Directions to find the last known location.

XIII. Check AirPods battery

You can check the battery status of your AirPods Pro using the Battery widget in your iPhone’s Today View. You’re wearing your AirPods Pro, ask Siri, “How is my AirPods’ battery?” and you will have Siri read the remaining battery percentage for each earphone. If you open the charging case while asking, Siri will also read its battery percentage.

You can also check your AirPods’ battery level from your Apple Watch, whether they’re paired with your iPhone or directly with your watch. To do so, swipe up on the watch face or while in an app to open the Control Center, then tap the Apple Watch icon, represented as a percentage.

Your AirPods battery level will show up as a circle below your Apple Watch battery percentage, and if you place your AirPods in the charging case, you’ll see the charging case’s battery percentage as well.

XIV. Reset your AirPods Pro

If your AirPods aren’t working as they should, if you can’t connect them, or if they’re not charging, you can now reset them by following these steps.

– Place your AirPods in the charging case and close the lid.

– Wait 30 seconds, then open the cover.

– On your iOS device, go to Settings – Bluetooth and tap the circled “i” icon next to your AirPods.

– Tap Forget This Device and tap again to confirm.

– When opening the AirPods case cover, press and hold the button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds until you see the status light blinking orange.

– While the case lid is open, place your AirPods near the device and follow the onscreen steps to reconnect your AirPods.
