amazon Nokia 6.2 reviews
Open the box
With the image of a handshake behind the familiar teardrop screen frame, the Nokia 6.2’s case has a beautiful soft blue tone.
Inside the box, in addition to the Nokia 6.2 phone, users will own a set of accessories, including a 10W USB-C charger and cable and headphones.
In addition, the Nokia 6.2 does not come with other common accessories like many phones on the market today, such as cases or screen protectors.
Design
Many users will find that the Nokia smartphones manufactured by HMD are good-looking and very sturdy. Nokia 6.2 is no exception.
The phone has a rather sleek look with glass on both the back and the front combined with a metal frame.
Nokia 6.2 owns a 6.3-inch IPS LCD waterdrop screen like the Nokia 7.2. Not only that, the entire body has the same shape, size, and weight as the 7.2.
Although equipped with a waterdrop screen, the Nokia 6.2 is not an overflowing phone when the edges of the screen are relatively thick.
Inside the waterdrop, HMD equips an 8MP selfie camera for this phone. Above the camera is the handset.
Although there is no support for dust and water resistance, the phone’s durability is still one of Nokia’s top concerns, and the company has equipped the 6.2-layer Gorilla Glass 3 protection for both the back and the front.
In terms of color options, Nokia 6.2 is available in two versions: Black (Ceramic Black) and Light Blue (Ice). Although the appearance of both color versions is very nice, fingerprints or smudges will easily stick to the device, which can be seen more clearly on the Nokia 6.2 in Black.
On the back, Nokia 6.2 also has the same design as Nokia 7.2. A camera cluster with three lenses and 1 LED light surrounded by a circular frame located above the middle axis of the back. The degree of protrusion of the rear camera cluster compared to the back is not much, making the phone lose balance when placed on a flat surface.
Right below the camera cluster is the familiar fingerprint sensor. The unlocking speed of this sensor is not the fastest in its price range, but the accuracy is very reliable.
Normally, the glass material will not have much grip on the user’s hand, but the metal frame of the Nokia 6.2 has improved this disadvantage of the two glasses. HMD says this is a combination of aluminum and polycarbonate, but the official product website only says that the frame is made of metal.
Whatever it is made of, the company has handled the bezel excellently. Not only gives the phone a premium look, but the frame also gives the user a comfortable and secure grip.
A frame is equipped with a 3.5mm audio jack, the SIM & memory card slot (including two nano-SIM trays and one microSD card), and the assistant key. The bottom edge has a Type-C charging port and an external speaker.
Meanwhile, the device’s right edge includes the volume up and down buttons and the power button. HMD has been very clever when integrating an LED in the power button as a notification light, only blinking white.
All of the above factors have made up the overall Nokia 6.2, although it has a mid-range price, but has a rather high-end appearance, attracting users.
Screen
Nokia 6.2 is equipped with a 6.3-inch screen with a resolution of 1080×2280. Like the 7.2, 6.2 also uses an LCD screen with HDR10 standard; also a Nokia technology called PureDisplay.
The panel on Nokia 6.2 has very good brightness, reaching 514 nits when adjusting the brightness slider to maximum and reaching 580 nits when using sunlight mode.
Many mid-range smartphones have used OLED screens, but HMD still decided to equip the Nokia 6.2 with IPS LCD panels. However, the contrast on the device’s screen is still very good.
On Nokia 6.2, the manufacturer equips users with Dynamic color mode. If this feature is enabled, the screen will adjust the color reproduction of the displayed content so that some details will have a slightly different color, but the overall picture will be very nice. When Dynamic is turned off, the screen will work in the basic color space, keeping the color deviation (color displayed on the screen compared to the actual color) low.
About PureDislay, when this feature is turned off, Nokia 6.2 will have an auto white balance mode, which helps reduce blue light and lower color deviation even more. However, this is also highly dependent on ambient light.
Although it is an HDR10 screen, users can only watch videos in SDR streams from YouTube or Netflix.
The battery
The Nokia 6.2 is powered by a 3,500mAh battery with a 10W charger. Since there is no fast charging support, the device will charge 35% of the battery in 30 minutes and reach 100% in 2 hours.
In terms of usage time, with a 3,500mAh battery, Nokia 6.2 has a duration of use for one full charge that is not impressive. Through the tests, the device can operate continuously for 10 hours if browsing the web and eight and a half hours when watching videos.

Android One OS
One of the highlights of devices from Nokia is that they are all launched with Android One operating system. The advantage of Android One is that the operating system is updated continuously for 2-3 years; moreover, users can use Android on Google’s original interface.
Because Nokia 6.2 uses an LCD screen, there is no Always-on-Display feature like OLED phones, so HMD has an Ambient display feature that lights up the screen when receiving new notifications. Besides, the LED on the power button will alert the user about missed notifications.
Nokia 6.2 uses both fingerprint sensors and face unlock in terms of security. The fingerprint sensor will be much more reliable and secure than face unlock.
Using Android 9 on top of stock Android One, the Nokia 6.2 driver uses the pill-shaped button-based navigation at the bottom of the screen. Touching once will lead the user to the main screen, gliding on the key from left to right is an operation to switch between the two recently opened applications, and dragging the button to the right is the user interface to switch tasks.
When the user briefly swipes up from the bottom edge of the screen, the phone will switch to the multitasking interface. If you swipe longer, the app drawer will appear.
Google’s default multimedia applications also appear to help users manage easier. Nokia 6.2 also has a media manager.
Performance and benchmarks
Nokia 6.2 is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, which used to be a quite popular chip for smartphones in the mid-range segment, but so far, this processor is quite old on the market, although 636 is not a weak chip.
The device is launched in the market with two versions of 3GB / 4GB RAM and three memory options of 32GB / 64GB and 128GB.
Regarding Geekbench benchmarks, Nokia 6.2 scores much lower than other phones in the segment, both in single-core and multi-core. The same goes for the AnTuTu benchmark.
However, there is an advantage on the Nokia 6.2 that the phone hardly heats up during use, the performance is always kept at the most balanced level, the operating system and applications also work quite smoothly.
As mentioned above, this processor chip has been around for a long time, so with the operating system and games and applications becoming more and more advanced, requiring higher graphics, Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 will be difficult to maintain its performance in the long run.
Camera
Nokia 6.2 is equipped with a cluster of 3 rear cameras, including a 16MP f/1.8 main camera, a 118-degree 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 5MP depth-sensing camera.
The default camera application on Nokia is not much different from previous phones. The side swipes help users switch between shooting modes. Less important features are stored in a square icon to minimize details appearing on the shooting screen.
HMD also provides users with many shooting modes such as Beauty, Portrait, Pro (professional).
In terms of quality, the images captured by the main camera in daylight conditions are unimpressive. Dynamic range is average; noise is higher than usual, and white balance and color reproduction in every detail makes the image somewhat unreal.
The photos taken with the super wide-angle camera are of better quality. Details and colors are also much more impressive than the main camera. The ability to automatically correct distortion on the image is applied as needed.
In low light conditions, the image captured by the camera is even worse, lacking a lot of detail and a lot of noise. The color is also not handled well; the subject points in the picture are not displayed.
With NightMode mode, the image is improved in color saturation; the details are also quite clear, making the overall look a bit better, although the image is still quite noisy.
When using NightMode mode, users need 2-3 seconds to take a picture, and the system needs 5-7 seconds later to process and save the image.
In low light conditions with the wide-angle camera, the images cannot be displayed at full resolution; there are a lot of noise points, the color is far different from the actual color.
If night mode is enabled, the image is less noisy, and color saturation is restored.
The portrait photos taken by the Nokia 6.2 are excellent in detail and beautiful colors.
Nokia 6.2 is equipped with an 8MP f/2.2 selfie camera. A minus point on the camera is the focus of the image seems to be fixed in the background.
Portrait mode is also available on the front camera, but image quality is average.
In terms of video recording capabilities, the Nokia 6.2 can record videos with quality up to 4K with the main camera and 1080p with the wide-angle camera. Image quality in 4K recordings has accurate colors and a good dynamic range.
However, at 1080p quality in both the main camera and the wide-angle camera, the Nokia 6.2 does not perform very well. The strongest point is the image has smooth, high stability.
Conclude
Nokia 6.2 is a smartphone in the mid-range segment that has contained many expectations from users. However, the device has only a few outstanding advantages, such as good looks, using Android One, and taking great portraits. Nokia 6.2 has a few minus points, such as average battery capacity and an unimpressive camera.
Recently, HMD has had very convincing products with eye-catching looks, but with Nokia 6.2, this product might not stand out from many other smartphones in the price range.
