Introducing the subwoofer S
On his website, the famous British speaker Rel. Acoustics announced that in the past 25 years, Sub REL series has not been priced medium but applied top technology and good as S series. The subwoofer S3 looks very much like the Rel R 328 until you remove the grille. The S3 remains glossy black or white and cube shaped with handles, backs and metal legs. But the S3 is a bit deeper than the R series, but very few people notice the difference. The depth of the enclosure is due to a significant change in design: It is made of 30mm thick MDF wood and has a better internal bracing that makes the S3 more rigid, heavier than the R model.
However, the biggest change lies in the new NextGen II speakers and amplifiers. In the previous series, Sub Rel was based on traditional materials, large resistance dust hats. While in the new S series, the use of a full-throated, die-cast aluminum bezel, no dust cap and a powerful 400W RMS amplifier. The new Rel’s new speaker technology is one of the key elements that make the S-Series successful, it’s white, made of tough alloys called T-6063 (mainly magnesium alloy and Silicon). This alloy is considered to have good mechanical properties, very high tensile strength, and has very smooth surfaces.
In addition, the two sides of the speaker with improved handle slightly glossy slightly protruding and the rear adjustment buttons are easier to use. S3 and S5 can be controlled remotely if you purchase a $ 100. Long Bow Wireless Remote Control Box. The Longbow is a small box that supports sub-players in the 15m range, two or more sub-rooms in the room without the need for cables.
With subwoofer companies, it’s hard to get good sound from sub for two-channel music. But the REL Acoustics with the motto of “doing one thing and doing the best” has done the job of making the Sub REL bass signal unified, synchronized with the signal of the main speaker easily.
The effect of sub-bass in general and S3 in particular is that deep bass enhancement interacts with the listening room better, thus, making the main speakers more liberal, more open in the midrange so sub users. Rel will hear more distant stereo sound, more of a live performance feel, and recognize precisely the position of the musician and singer.
For best results, Rel recommends using a sub for streaming music on the main amplifier. Then adjust the volume of the sub until it becomes a mere integration of bass into the limited bass of the main speaker. The process of tuning frequencies and position selection is not complicated, just a few times, each time for 10-15 minutes with the test disk to achieve optimal bass with the equipment and the listening room of each machine.

In experience, TestLab utilizes a Denon DCD 3300 CD player configuration, a Tascam 112 Mk II tape drive, a Pioneer XL-1550 Needle Carousel MC Concept; Analysis Plus Chocolate Oval Signal Wire; Ampli single end Separo SE300I; Analysis Plus Power Oval; Speaker Wire Analysis Plus Oval 12/2; JBL Control Monitor 4312A …
When I first set up Sub Rel S3 with JBL 4312A speakers, TestLab was bewildered because I did not hear S3. Place your hand lightly on the passive membrane at the bottom of the S3, and see it vibrate, but notice no significant difference. TestLab aligns the knob to 12 o’clock and lets the subwoofer operate for a while and then turn it off. The feeling of “quiet” gradually increased to the right often heard, it took a few seconds. The speakers still listen to the stereo as if they were scooped up.
TestLab test with Hotel California (CD The Eagle – Hell Freezes Over). As the bass drum rose, the sub sub, bass drum down. Often, the bass drum in the Hotel California will stretch with amplifiers with tone control and large bass speakers. Separo amplifiers do not use tone control and the bass drum effect is subdued by the S3 sub. Later on, when sub S3 has been run thoroughly, the effect is as isolated.
When the bass becomes solid, the sound foundation of the piece of music allows for better sound reproduction. That is the rule. In this experience, the JBL 4312A is a 3-inch bass that does not lack bass. But the 45Hz block of this speaker obviously should have sub-S3 depth of depth to 22Hz because in the battle to conquer the volume, just go up or down a nearby node is a big problem ( In the case of experience, the pitch of the bass increases by one octave.) Improved by the sub S3 is very clear when TestLab set to listen to some classical guitar solo CD. The deepest bass of the classical guitar is the high octave midrange between 55Hz and 110Hz. Barrios’ Vals No3 is about 220Hz but it is very deep and rounded, far away when the system does not have sub S3.
