Gameplay and Mechanics
Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is really for tactical shooter fans who love sniping games. The gameplay is all about precision shooting, stealth, and strategy. Planning is key in this game and it really stresses the careful approach of a player with respect to planning their actions and using different tools and strategies.
Sniping Mechanics
The whole game revolves around sniping, and Contracts 2 offers satisfying, sniping joy. With several sniper rifles to choose from, these all have their own attributes in terms of accuracy, range, and firepower. Players are also allowed to customize their snipers with scopes, barrels, and attachments; so, it’s up to the player how much they want to personalize their sniping.
The game features a new and improved ballistics system that measures bullet drop, wind, and distance, putting realism and challenge into the sniping experience, making one to take aim totally with respect to those factors. Players are helped further by the incorporation of a wind meter and bullet drop indicators, yet the principle behind these mechanics requires plenty of practice to master.
One of the most notable things Contracts 2 has going for it is the enhanced visual feedback observed when sniping. Bullet trajectories, as well as impact effects, are thoroughly shown, allowing players to assess the impact on their shot better. Plus, the slow-mo killcam of certain killer shots gives the game a cinematic touch-and a gratifying sense of impact-outstanding.
Stealth and Tactical Play
Although soft-and-quiet sniping is the focus coming closest to the heart, “Contracts 2,” unlike other descendants, also gives decent praise to stealthy tactical play. The player will navigate through hostile environments, carefully avoiding detection while executing planned approaches. Stealth elements that the game provides are such tools as silencers, diversion methods, and camouflage.
The enemies are well scripted for the most part. Some will patrol entire areas with designed detection ranges, requiring the players to observe and plan well. The game encourages the player to stealthily take down enemies, as opposed to sniping loudly, which would alert other enemies within the vicinity. Marking and tracking enemy activity on tactical maps also allows for more strategizing, giving players an avenue to formulate plans for avoiding detection.
Mission Structure and Contracts
“Contracts 2” embraces a mission-based structure that strays from the more linear approach of the earlier series titles. Each contract contains particular objectives and targeted targets-and players are given the free will to choose from a catalogue of missions they would like to take on, hence an iota of freedom in the game approach itself.
The complete design of missions varies, having phases for the assassination of high-profile targets, intelligence gathering, or sabotage of enemy equipment. The open-endedness of the contracts allows for multi-faceted approaches, enabling the player to choose their personal method for completion. This very open-endedness generates replayability, as players will try different strategies and styles of gameplay.
Graphics and Visuals
In “Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2,” the advancement of its visual presentation is a real advantage for the franchise. The game comprises rich environments with realistic character models and improved textures. The Middle Eastern setting is properly carried out and diversified into several landscapes: desert terrain, urban areas, and dense foliage.
These graphical improvements add to the immersion of the environment, helping it feel more alive and dynamic. The remarkable detailing of the environments is exemplified by realistic lighting and shadows, as well as weather effects, which perfectly add to the feeling. Everything considered, the game is visually pretty good; there are some pops here and there with texture-loading issues and frame-rate dips.
Sound and Music
Sound design in “Contracts 2” is paramount to the player’s immersion. The background score, well composed, gives adrenaline to the action and tension in the gameplay. The atmospheric score fits perfectly with the setting of the game, contributing to the overall ambiance and immersion.
Gunshots and environmental sound effects are among the most realistic in the business. Each gun possesses a distinctly different sound; the soft crackling of faraway gunfire; the rushing growls of heavy winds, animal calls, and whispering breezes; the sound of feet against the soft earth; the panicked pad-pads of a bird in flight-whopping-into the canopy. These all cement the mode’s immersive experience. Voice-acting from characters is standard; the dialogue is functional rather than quantum.
Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts 2 is the sequel to Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts, a spin-off of the first-person shooter series – the Sniper Ghost Warrior sniper simulation.
Although the game sniping mechanics keep improving through the games, stringing it together into a game has never been CI Games’ strong point.
So when CI Games decided to change the direction of the series to be more like Hitman with Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts, the fan community (which was not very crowded – NV) of the series now resembles a fan community. Much better – though the pacing shortcomings and silly save-mechanical design make the gameplay very annoying.
Surely, although Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts has so many weaknesses, the game is still successful enough to “give” another sequel – our main character today.
Since 2010, the Sniper Ghost Warrior franchise has continuously tweaked and improved to make the sniping mechanics more complete, more realistic, and more fun – and Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts 2 makes that clear.
With three classes of sniper rifles: light, medium, and heavy, it is a fun experience for players to improvise with the task of following these weapon classes.
With a light sniper rifle, you can fire many accurate shots in a short time, although the range is much worse than the other two guns, suitable for chaining a series of actions to lead to a (or more) marksmanship shots to end the mission.
As for heavy sniper rifles – players will feel really like an elite sniper when this gun is slow to shoot and harder to target, but with a large range and destructive power – players will feel like they’ve just fired a rocket with every pull of the trigger, and of course, there is nothing cooler than when a single shot is enough to bring down the villain a kilometer away.
But it’s not like you can’t shoot right away if you just put your eyes on him!
You have to adjust the wind, the drop rate of the bullets, adjust the focus of the scope to calculate the most accurate (remember another brand of sniper game: Sniper Elite), every shot you shoot requires carefully planned, and it will give you a truly indescribable satisfaction to see the immediate results of that careful preparation – the camera leaves the protagonist’s eyes, follows the bullet from the barrel to the when it turned the bewildered soldier kilometers away into a cloud of red dust.
Exactly, the sniper mechanism is just the only bright spot of the game, when all the rest of the game’s elements are just twirling in the middle – weak.
Between the segments where you go around in the open world to make “contracts”, players will be able to see the “peak intelligence” of the enemy, when they … line up for you to shoot, bewilderedly running around bounce when you hear the gunfire, and let you walk between them… like going to the supermarket!
Sometimes they will follow each other to find the player when they hear strange noises or throw smoke bombs at the player’s head, but only for a while, and then run around foolishly.
Even so, they have a precision… amazing!
Now you are Raven, a super-soldier with hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment, it takes tens of minutes to plan a shot from a sniper rifle that costs more than a car and still misses anytime!
And the enemy is the lowly soldiers with cheap and easy AK guns that can… hit you from thousands of kilometers!
It’s fictitious!
Not to mention, the sniper assassination screen is also relatively poor – unlike Hitman, the “alternative” assassination methods of Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 are both boring and inconsistent.
There is a mission where the player can shoot down a container on top of the target, but the writer must assume that the bad guy is… the cartoon character, because three times in a row he calmly walks from the inside. The container came out after it crashed on his head!
A level with only 2 or 3 alternative methods like that, unlike the Hitman freedom and creativity that the game is all about!
The only thing that the writer can say about the plot of Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts 2 is… forget what happened!
Some Arab country needs to shoot someone….? Does the bad guy have a golden arrow on his head?
The plot of Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts 2 is so blurred that… can’t laugh, the writer doesn’t know what happened and what Raven and his commander want and are doing.
The writer has no motivation to continue doing what they are doing, other than having more money to buy new equipment … which is not necessary because the only fun of the game is in shooting sniper, any equipment not used for sniping is superfluous!
Every mission is so vague, boring, and redundant, that players don’t have any motivation to continue playing – because they have to walk for half an hour just to shoot 2 or 3 sniper shots!
