Gameplay and Mechanics
“Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2” is designed to appeal to fans of tactical shooters and sniping games. The gameplay focuses on precision shooting, stealth, and strategic planning. The game emphasizes a methodical approach, requiring players to carefully plan their actions and make use of various tools and strategies.
Sniping Mechanics
The core gameplay revolves around sniping, and “Contracts 2” does an excellent job of delivering a satisfying sniping experience. The game features a range of sniper rifles, each with its own characteristics, including accuracy, range, and firepower. Players can customize their rifles with different scopes, barrels, and attachments, allowing for a personalized approach to sniping.
The game introduces an improved ballistics system that takes into account factors such as bullet drop, wind, and distance. This system adds a layer of realism and challenge to sniping, requiring players to adjust their aim based on environmental conditions. The inclusion of a wind meter and bullet drop indicators helps players make more accurate shots, but mastering these mechanics still requires practice and skill.
One of the standout features of “Contracts 2” is the enhanced visual feedback during sniping. The game provides detailed bullet trajectory indicators and impact effects, making it easier for players to gauge the effectiveness of their shots. The slow-motion kill cam, which highlights critical shots, adds a cinematic flair and provides a gratifying sense of impact.
Stealth and Tactical Play
While sniping is the primary focus, “Contracts 2” also places a strong emphasis on stealth and tactical gameplay. Players must navigate through hostile environments, avoiding detection and carefully planning their approach. The game features a variety of stealth tools, including silencers, distraction devices, and camouflage.
The AI of enemy soldiers is generally well-designed, with patrol patterns and detection ranges that require careful observation and planning. The game encourages players to use stealth to their advantage, allowing them to take out targets without alerting nearby enemies. The ability to mark and track enemies using a tactical map adds an additional layer of strategy, helping players plan their movements and avoid detection.
Mission Structure and Contracts
“Contracts 2” introduces a mission-based structure that differs from the more linear progression of previous entries in the series. The game features a series of contracts, each with specific objectives and targets. Players are free to choose which contracts to undertake, providing a degree of freedom in how they approach the game.
The mission design is varied, with objectives ranging from assassinating high-profile targets to gathering intelligence or sabotaging enemy equipment. The open-ended nature of the contracts allows for multiple approaches, giving players the freedom to choose their preferred method of completion. This flexibility adds replay value, as players can experiment with different strategies and playstyles.
Graphics and Visuals
The visual presentation of “Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2” is a significant step forward for the franchise. The game features detailed environments, realistic character models, and improved textures. The Middle Eastern setting is well-realized, with diverse landscapes that include desert terrain, urban areas, and dense foliage.
The graphical enhancements contribute to the overall immersion, making the environments feel more alive and dynamic. The attention to detail in the environments is evident, with realistic lighting, shadows, and weather effects that enhance the atmosphere. The game’s visual fidelity is generally impressive, though there are occasional issues with texture pop-in and frame rate drops.
Sound and Music
The audio design in “Contracts 2” plays a crucial role in creating an immersive experience. The game features a well-composed soundtrack that complements the action and tension of the gameplay. The music is atmospheric and fitting for the game’s setting, enhancing the overall mood and immersion.
The sound effects, particularly the gunfire and environmental noises, are well-crafted and contribute to the realism of the experience. The distinct sounds of different weapons, the crackle of distant gunfire, and the ambient noise of the environment all add to the immersion. The voice acting for the characters is competent, though not exceptional, with dialogue that serves its purpose without standing out.
Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts 2 is the sequel to Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts, a spin-off of the first-person shooter series – the Sniper Ghost Warrior sniper simulation.
Although the game sniping mechanics keep improving through the games, stringing it together into a game has never been CI Games’ strong point.
So when CI Games decided to change the direction of the series to be more like Hitman with Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts, the fan community (which was not very crowded – NV) of the series now resembles a fan community. Much better – though the pacing shortcomings and silly save-mechanical design make the gameplay very annoying.
Surely, although Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts has so many weaknesses, the game is still successful enough to “give” another sequel – our main character today.
Since 2010, the Sniper Ghost Warrior franchise has continuously tweaked and improved to make the sniping mechanics more complete, more realistic, and more fun – and Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts 2 makes that clear.
With three classes of sniper rifles: light, medium, and heavy, it is a fun experience for players to improvise with the task of following these weapon classes.
With a light sniper rifle, you can fire many accurate shots in a short time, although the range is much worse than the other two guns, suitable for chaining a series of actions to lead to a (or more) marksmanship shots to end the mission.
As for heavy sniper rifles – players will feel really like an elite sniper when this gun is slow to shoot and harder to target, but with a large range and destructive power – players will feel like they’ve just fired a rocket with every pull of the trigger, and of course, there is nothing cooler than when a single shot is enough to bring down the villain a kilometer away.
But it’s not like you can’t shoot right away if you just put your eyes on him!
You have to adjust the wind, the drop rate of the bullets, adjust the focus of the scope to calculate the most accurate (remember another brand of sniper game: Sniper Elite), every shot you shoot requires carefully planned, and it will give you a truly indescribable satisfaction to see the immediate results of that careful preparation – the camera leaves the protagonist’s eyes, follows the bullet from the barrel to the when it turned the bewildered soldier kilometers away into a cloud of red dust.
Exactly, the sniper mechanism is just the only bright spot of the game, when all the rest of the game’s elements are just twirling in the middle – weak.
Between the segments where you go around in the open world to make “contracts”, players will be able to see the “peak intelligence” of the enemy, when they … line up for you to shoot, bewilderedly running around bounce when you hear the gunfire, and let you walk between them… like going to the supermarket!
Sometimes they will follow each other to find the player when they hear strange noises or throw smoke bombs at the player’s head, but only for a while, and then run around foolishly.
Even so, they have a precision… amazing!
Now you are Raven, a super-soldier with hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment, it takes tens of minutes to plan a shot from a sniper rifle that costs more than a car and still misses anytime!
And the enemy is the lowly soldiers with cheap and easy AK guns that can… hit you from thousands of kilometers!
It’s fictitious!
Not to mention, the sniper assassination screen is also relatively poor – unlike Hitman, the “alternative” assassination methods of Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 are both boring and inconsistent.
There is a mission where the player can shoot down a container on top of the target, but the writer must assume that the bad guy is… the cartoon character, because three times in a row he calmly walks from the inside. The container came out after it crashed on his head!
A level with only 2 or 3 alternative methods like that, unlike the Hitman freedom and creativity that the game is all about!
The only thing that the writer can say about the plot of Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts 2 is… forget what happened!
Some Arab country needs to shoot someone….? Does the bad guy have a golden arrow on his head?
The plot of Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts 2 is so blurred that… can’t laugh, the writer doesn’t know what happened and what Raven and his commander want and are doing.
The writer has no motivation to continue doing what they are doing, other than having more money to buy new equipment … which is not necessary because the only fun of the game is in shooting sniper, any equipment not used for sniping is superfluous!
Every mission is so vague, boring, and redundant, that players don’t have any motivation to continue playing – because they have to walk for half an hour just to shoot 2 or 3 sniper shots!
