amazon Urbanista Brisbane reviews
Unboxing / Design
Brisbane’s box is of course bigger than Sydney, but has the same trendy decor as the smaller speaker.
Some specs are advertised on the front: waterproof, play 10 hours of music, adjust the volume, the latest Bluetooth 5.0 to reduce latency.
The back is full of other specifications, which I will list fully in the following section.
There is only one micro USB charging cable in the box. The speaker has a 3.5mm port so we can listen to wired music, so if the company offers one more, that’s fine, so we won’t have to go outside to buy it.
And here is our product: the Urbanista Brisbane portable speaker. The appearance of this speaker is no different from a Sydney ones, it still have a metal body covered with a layer of fashion braided fabric.
We have passive vibration membranes on both sides to increase the ability to play the bass, when playing music we can see them moving in and out.
The back is similar to Sydney, we have micro USB and 3.5mm charging ports.
The top has control buttons including power button, Bluetooth toggle, volume control. The volume of buttons on the Urbanista speakers is much smaller than Sony’s, because they are also less functional and the company aims at a minimalist design, not wanting to bring too much confusion to its products.
With a large design, and of course also quite a lot heavier than Sydney products, Brisbane will be more suitable for those who use speakers in the home, or determine that a large backpack will be used to hold the speaker. In other words, the mobility of the speaker has been reduced, just like the high-end products of Sony eXtra Bass, this is something users must accept!

Sound quality
Increasing the size to equip more drivers, the first thing we can feel in Brisbane is that the volume of this speaker is superior to Sydney. If Sydney can be used indoors and places with a quiet atmosphere, Brisbane will not hesitate to use it in open spaces and crowded places. This speaker retains the ability to connect 2 together to create a stereo effect, so those who are still not satisfied with its volume can … buy 2 to use!
There are size benefits, Brisbane also has the benefits of sound reproduction. Sydney has only integrated a 40mm driver, and it seems that the company has tried its best to create a harmonious, easy listening sound. But a driver also has its limits, Sydney has a relatively weak bass, accompanied by a slightly ‘concentrated’ sound quality, lacking sound coverage. Brisbane addresses these two issues by equipping two drivers, and also two 52mm drivers.
Brisbane’s bass is much richer, both in the sub and mid bass. The amount of bass in Brisbane is still not comparable with the XB32 or XB42 speakers, because Urbanista is still looking for a ‘cleaner’ sound quality, but with Brisbane we no longer feel lacking like in Sydney. Bass on Hold On the break is full, quite neat and not encroached on other bands. Like other portable speakers, the way Brisbane expresses bass also depends in part on how users place the speakers, so avoid places with mysterious spaces like bookshelves, as the bass can bounce back and cause buzzing.
We also see a true improvement in the mid range, when the singer voice is thicker, more prominent and no longer feels like being too restrictive. Enya’s voice in Only Time was rich, warm and quite ‘smooth’. The high mid part is lightened down, thereby avoiding the harsh sibalance phenomenon. Perhaps Urbanista wants to equip Brisbane with an easy listening, laid back and comfortable sound so the high-mid without peak is also a natural course, not surprising. If you like the style of the vocal expression of the Urbanista headphones, then definitely switch to this speaker you will love! Treble is still not a promoted sound strip in Brisbane, this may be a tradition of Urbanista rather than the limits of drivers anymore! This range of sound up to a certain paragraph and then roll off slightly, playing softly and bearing the sound direction of the whole sound range, not prominent.
Decreased portability but increased sound quality
Like any kind of speaker in the world, the size of the drivers, the number of drivers often determine the final sound quality, Brisbane gives a significantly better performance than Sydney -the ‘brother’. But of course, users will also have to trade in portability, because this speaker is much larger in size and weight, will be more ‘tired’ to take everywhere.
