amazon Dreamwave Harmony reviews
Design
Harmony is probably one of the most beautiful portable speakers ever. The high-end design of the speaker is made of stainless steel, with a fake leather line running along the speaker. The top of the speaker has four buttons: the power button, the receive call button and the two buttons increase and decrease the volume is made of plastic of the same color with the color range of the speaker. The version we are holding is orange, but there is another version with black body that is pretty nice. The sound insulation of the speaker is called “honeycomb”, looks pretty and luxurious. Harmony is designed in California and assembled in China. The first feeling when holding Harmony up is the certainty. With low-cost portable speakers, many companies use too much plastic to make cheap cushions. Harmony is made of heavy-duty steel, hand-made and sturdy. The back of the speaker has a separate 15V charging port of the speaker, not a micro USB charger, a line-in to listen to music on the wire. The speakers are equipped with IPX5 waterproof and dustproof so users can safely bring speakers to go to the sea, where dusty without worry that speakers have problems! Overall, this is a high-end speaker, designed for long term use.
Practical use
+ Usability
Compared to the portable speakers on the market such as Xiaomi Squarebox or Sony X11, Harmony is quite large. This is also understandable because Harmony has four loudspeakers consisting of two speakers for midrange, high tone and two for midrange bass. Harmony is also much heavier than the speakers. With a weight of 1.76KG, users will also have to think before putting Harmony in the bag and bring. But for those who do not care about weight, this is still a portable speaker.
+ Connect
The speakers have NFC and Bluetooth connectivity, or the user can connect by cord to save battery power to the phone. Harmony uses the new Bluetooth 4.0 standard, so the transfer rates are higher than the low-level speakers. In the process of using it, I have not had any problems connecting, unless the speaker and phone are separated by two brick walls. NFC is also very convenient, just put the phone near the speaker and both will connect without having to set-up too much. Once connected, both will switch to Bluetooth.
+ Battery life
The company supplies Harmony a 4.500mAh battery, with promises of 18 hours at moderate level. During the test, I brought Harmony to go for a picnic for 3 days. On the first full charge, about 2 days, the battery is low and needs charging. This is a picnic so I use the speakers continuously, every day about 7 hours, for those who use the office or at home the battery will probably be a little longer. After a full charge, the loudspeaker can be used for one extra day outdoors and 3 days for home use. So we can see that the battery life of Harmony is not too bad, can not reach the threshold of 18 hours as the company said but still enough. Harmony recharges quite fast, probably because it uses a separate charging standard with higher current than the micro USB. This is a disadvantage when the user has to bring a separate charger for the speaker, take up more space when you go out!
+ Sound quality
When it comes to portable speakers, people often think of products that “trade-off”. If the speaker is too small, the sound will not be full, as the volume is usually small. Large speakers with large diaphragms and large diaphragms often cost a lot and lose their mobility. Harmony is the harmony between design and sound. Speakers may be small if you consider that there are four speakers to play music. The overall sound of Harmony is warm, plump, giving a feeling of diffusion rather than a place.
The point that users will enjoy most in Harmony is the bass strings of the speakers. Inside the Harmony there are two dedicated speakers to reproduce this part so the drums always have enough volume. Also because of the relatively deep bass, the overall sound of the Harmony is stronger, warmer and less dazzling. The harmony of Harmony than all the cheap products from Xiaomi, Trendwoo and Sony X11. The bass of the Sony X11 is made up of two sets of harmonics, so it’s still not as good as the drums made out of Harmony’s real speakers. Of course we should not compare two products at two different price points, but this shows the benefit of the loud speakers, the sound will become more honest. With Alan Walker’s faded song, the drum part is played quite deep and tends to soften before breaking. The subwoofer of the speaker pulls the tail long enough for the listener to feel the deepening of the speaker. This bass response to the most demanding Dance like Lean On. In this article, Harmony shows the strength when there is a separate speaker to play bass. The mid bass is played with good punchy, strong beats and quite deep. The sub-bass to the middle is done fairly should be less feeling bloat or boxy, quite natural. Because of the harmony of playing too much, Harmony played well with the low of Pop, Dance, and even jazz with Contrabass in the orchestra.
Perhaps the middle of the speaker is the most worth mentioning. Previously, the middle part was the hardest part of the mobile speaker. With one-touch speakers, when focusing on the center, the bass will be missing, making the overall sound is thin. And the speakers focus on the bass, the acoustic will slightly lack the natural. The Sony X11 handles this part pretty well, the vocal is quite natural, but of course the high mid has a little roll off phenomenon so the feeling is not escaped, the singer’s voice has not reached the highest note. In Harmony, the bass and midrange speakers are separated, playing their part with the sound that separates it. Harmony’s centerpiece is one of the best parts to hear from a portable speaker! The bass and the highs in cheap speakers can be tuned to equal harmony, but the midrange is what few other companies can do.

Try with Spanish Harlem, a vocal version of female singer Rebecca Pidgeon, the vocalist, just like listening to a headphone! The high midrange of the speaker can not be as high as a headset, but compared to other portable speakers it is higher up, feeling like it is not rolled off. Even though it’s about 2 meters away, the female vocalists still feel the highest notes, keeping the clarity and naturalness of the song. Adele’s voice in Hello is played very comfortably, naturally and without restraint, the vibrato vibrato also becomes so clearer. The midrange is almost unaffected by the bass, leaving the orchestra to become clean and easy to hear. Harmony shows the male vocalist is equally good, but the strength of the speaker is still the female singer with a high and clear voice. Because of this, it’s natural to include both jazz and vocal songs with a vocalist or complex instrument that the speaker can handle. I really did not expect a portable speaker to do this!
With the bass and the midrange quite balanced and full, I think Harmony will lack high sound, but the opposite is true. Harmony has a lot of high sound, no shortage of low-light speakers and more than many Sony X11. High tones are played in a sweet, gentle and shimmering manner and never suffer from sibalance. For those who love high-pitched, high-pitched sound, this is not going to be a wise choice, because without the high pitched sound, Harmony’s Hi-hat, Cymbal sounds are always warm and light to match. Overall sound of the speaker. Trying Take Five, one of the most highly played jazz songs, Harmony played the Cymbal sounds pretty well, for the natural and jazz of the song. High tones always have a sense of escape, separated from the singer and drums, great for a portable speaker!
With 3 strips are balanced and warm, this is a loudspeaker with the same harmony as its name. But many compliments also have to criticize. The downside of Harmony, it’s still a portable speaker, with speakers placed close to each other, even though the sound creates a better space than the one-membrane speakers still lose the. Speakers 2.0, 2.1 are set-up separately. Of course, users who purchase Harmony will be more mobile than the full sound of the bookshelf speakers, just pick one that does not have both!
