Design
To bring a wireless headset with more features to the user, Sony must also cut costs at the design stage. The CH400 is made entirely of plastic, with no cushioning and artificial leather ear pads.
However, the company also has experience in making the headset from plastic so the CH400 is not too loose in the hand, can be said to be acceptable. The controls include the power button, music controls and volume located on the right ear. There is only a micro USB charging port and no 3.5mm port, so the CH400 is a complete wireless headset, not a wired one.
These buttons are also made of plastic, the same color with headphones. The exterior is made of resinous plastic, with an NFC reception module.
Ear cushions are small, so do not cover the ears completely, wear long time to the ears so have to spend a little bit for rest not comfortable as the pair of Fullsize earphones. The quality of the synthetic leather is good enough to not stick to sweat, so long time wears are not comfortable but not too hot.
Practical use
The “WH” line is the usual wireless, but the CH400 also incorporates eXtra Bass technology like the XB. Therefore, the sound quality of these earphones is quite similar to those of the eXtra Bass, a big plus. The WH400’s bass is pretty much the same though the headphones are not very firmly attached to the ear. Perhaps aware of the weakness of the Onear type ear, Sony deliberately compensated for the amount of space available to listeners still sound strong. The bass is centered in mid bass, with very good pressure, punchy feel and full power. The bass drivers will not be disappointed with the WH400 bass.
I was surprised at how the CH400 performed mid, singer. Often, the bass will cause the midrange to turn back and unnatural, but this earpiece has a nice midrange detail, making Sarah McLachlan’s voice clear in Angel. The high mid section did not roll off too early, still showing the brightness of the singer’s voice up, but still cut in time to avoid sibalance. Overall, Sony has recently improved its midrange range, and in low-end bass choppers like the CH400, the singer’s voice is not too hard to hear, and it does not lose its clarity necessary.
The not really impressive point of the headset is the treble. Try out All out of love, see the treble of the CH400 is not bad at all, covered with music space. However, the hymns in this article are lacking in thickness, thin as well as cut-off prematurely so there is no brightness needed. Treble just enough to make the background for the other two bands to shine, but not impressed when standing alone.
Another commendable point is that the CH400’s audio lag is well controlled, not as good as the 1000X’s but still enough to watch videos, movies and games. This is an advantage because the headset does not have wired mode but can only hear wireless.

We can hardly ask for more from the Sony Ericsson CH400, as these headsets are in the low end segment, even too cheap compared to the features it offers. We have an onear wireless earpiece, 20 hours of music playback and extremely powerful bass.
