Cheaper but better? This is not often seen in the Tech World but it is not, and Urbanista London is a testament!

Urbanista is a company that is very ‘diligent’ looking for new technologies, in 2017 the company started to apply active noise cancellation technology to the Urbanista Milan pair. But at that time the technology was limited, so this pair of headphones could cancel noise just at the level of ‘noise’, not outstanding.

By 2020, the company has returned with a more complete and neat pair of headphones thanks to the TWS design and once again applies active noise canceling technology: Urbanista London pair. What are these headphones, and what needs further improvement, we will find out shortly.

Urbanista has always been the same, never to disappoint users with its box design!

Although made of paper, the inner lining does not feel cheap, possibly because the layer is thickened as well as rough on the surface, giving it a velvet feel but is eco-friendly.

In the box is a Type-C charging cord and 3 earbuds, placed in a piece of paper that looks a bit like RHA’s buffer, but RHA offers a more premium metal pad holder.

London’s charging box is really small, if I’m not mistaken, it’s only as big as the box of the AirPods Pro, so the portability is quite high.

Although this charging box is small, it can fully charge the headset 4 times more, every 5 hours bringing the total usage time to 25 hours.

Along with that is the standard wireless charging capabilities of Qualcomm Qi, which can be used with external charging docks or simply placed on the back of new generation smartphones like this, quite convenient if you forget to bring the charger with you!

As you can also see, these headphones are shaped quite similar to the Apple AirPods Pro pair, with one in-ear wearing part and a ‘tail’ for the microphone, but shorter than the first version of the AirPods.

For unknown reasons, but Urbanista London feels more comfortable to wear than the AirPods Pro. As expected, it is possible that this London pair has a housing section that is made a little shorter, with the sound tube being crossed so that it is not caught on the wearer’s upper ear rim. The consequence is that the passive noise resistance of this pair of headphones is also better than the AirPods Pro a little, especially for those who are ‘lazy’ not to change the ear cushions.

So what about active noise cancellation? It must be said that Urbanista has come a long way from Milan to London when the active noise cancellation ANC of this pair of headphones has significantly improved. This noise canceling is hard to keep up with the Sony WF1000xm3 pair, but combined with a tighter wearing, when the active noise cancellation, London has surpassed AirPods Pro. That’s right, both passive noise canceling and active pair of these headphones are better than the one-and-a-half and double-priced option from ‘Apple’, who would have expected?

On the outside of the headset, we have touch buttons to control music and adjust the noise canceling on and off, unfortunately, Urbanista has not developed software so that we can adjust this feature on smartphones, perhaps next time the company will have to hurry to do this. We will also have IPX4 water resistance, enough to carry exercise, go to the rain, but not enough to swim in the water.

Wearing a snug ear not only has the advantages of noise resistance, comfort, but also sound quality. One of the points I am not satisfied with AirPods Pro is the open way of wearing so the bass is released early, unable to reach the listeners’ ears, making this part ‘short of breath’, somewhat lacking. Urbanista London is quite the opposite when bass becomes the strength of this pair of headphones!

Listening to London, I thought I was listening to Sony eXtra bass headphones when this part was quite abundant, I never felt in need. In the We’re all we need an article of Above & Beyond group, the background bass is strong, has a clear weight, leaving an impression on the listener. This bass part has no shortage of sub-bass, so it also makes the sound a bit ‘low, dark’ down a bit, almost completely opposite to the bright and high-range sound of AirPods and AirPods Pro.

This warm, rich bass also has a little influence on the mid-range, as this range is more inclined towards low-mid than high-mid. Having a higher position than the other sound bands also helps the singer’s voice stand out more, not being overwhelmed by the bass is also quite strong in the back. This midrange I feel will be quite suitable for slow Jazz singers, like Norah Jones, but will be a bit weak in singers who can sing. As usual, the mid-style is a bit dark, warm like London, it will not really ‘stand out’ in all the pairs of headphones in the price range, but the comfort and laid back are out of the question.

The treble part of the first headset I thought would be weak, because the low and middle parts took up quite a lot of market share. But Urbanista is always the same. The amount of treble can be said to be moderate, a little bit ‘cut’ so it will not be super bright, super strong, but there is a resonance, each time it will emerge clearly and not sink into the negative background.

Urbanista headphones worth buying ever!

As the title also describes, Urbanista London can be considered an upgraded ‘Apple AirPods’ and is available to all Android and iOS users. Not only that, but I also think that these are the Urbanista headphones worth buying ever when a lot of factors such as comfortable wearing, noise-proof, waterproof, and rich sound.
