CPU block:
CPU block is the core component of any custom cooling system, the block will be responsible for absorbing temperature from the CPU and transmitting it to the Coolant, heat absorption performance will depend on the structure and quality material (Copper, nickel,…) that the manufacturer makes. Currently, CPU Block has many materials, colors, and materials to suit each person’s needs.
- VGA Block:
Similar to the CPU block, the VGA block is also responsible for absorbing temperature from the VGA and transmitting it to the Coolant. Some VGA lines will be equipped with a water block, while most will have to remove the accompanying air cooler. Compared to CPU blocks, finding blocks for VGA will be more difficult because each VGA line has its block, so you need to research carefully before buying block models on the market because there is a possibility of incompatibility.
- Pump:
The main task of the pump is to push liquid alternately in the custom system. Normally, pump models with larger capacity will be able to pump water better and cool faster than small-capacity pump models. Each pump line will have different pumping speeds, thrust, and durability. With today’s trend, manufacturers often integrate the pump with the tank to form a compact and aesthetic block.
- Tank
Although pumps and water tanks are often combined, there are still separate tanks. The water tank has the effect of storing a certain amount of water to supply the entire cooling system.
Radiator
Used to cool the coolant. Hot water is transmitted through water channels and fans blow air through thin fins to cool. After gradually flowing through the fins, the water will gradually cool down. Radiators will have different sizes and lengths. The length of the radiator will determine how many additional fans can be attached.
- Fans
True to its normal function, the fan will blow cooling air. Fans will be mounted on the radiator to blow air through the water-filled fins and thereby cool the water. In addition, nowadays cooling fans are also equipped with RGB lights to decorate the PC
- Fitting
Used to connect components to tubes or tubes to tubes. Material, design, and pipe retaining gasket will determine the quality and price of the fit. Basic types of Fit include Pipe Fit and Corner Fit. There are also many types of the most complicated connector fits, but to create a basic custom set, only the above two types of fits are enough.
- Tube
There are two main types of water pipes: hard pipes and soft pipes. Hard pipes come in many types of materials, mainly PETG, Acrylic, metal, etc.
Hard tubes provide high aesthetics while soft tubes provide durability and high performance
Coolants
Coolant will run through the pipes to the components to absorb heat and dissipate heat through the Radiator. Users can choose quality distilled water to save money or use a specialized coolant for water cooling. Depending on each person’s preferences and budget, choose coolant with different ingredients, liquid consistency, color, etc.
Summary
In summary, a basic custom CPU cooler will include at least the following components to be able to operate: 1 CPU block – 1 pump (with tank) – 1 radiator – 6 fit pipe plugs – 2 to 3m pipe – 1 bottle of cooling water.
Above are the main components that make up a Custom water radiator. As one of the highly customizable hobbies, Custom radiators still have many other accessories and toys included, but can provide the most overview for those new to the hobby.
