JBL Reflect Flow

Reflect Flow is a completely new wireless headset carrying the most advanced technology. I was fortunate to own this headset early and used it as my main headset for listening to music while on the go and playing sports. 1. Ergonomic design:

The way JBL perfected Reflect Flow’s earbuds is not new, but the way they separate the two rubber parts that cover the earbud is completely new. JBL Reflect Flow has two rubber parts: the rubber part that hooks the ear canal and the rubber part inserted in the ear. The separation of these two rubber parts helps users adjust the earbud’s size better, thereby wearing it in the most comfortable ear.

As in my case, I use the rubber ear hook size M but use the rubber part in the ear size S. For a comfortable wearing feeling but soundproof.

A way of wearing a hook, the headset will stay firmly in the ear during all your sports activities. I ran trails through rough roads with a jumping posture, but the headset still did not fall off.

2. TalkThru and Ambient Aware Technology:

These are two completely new JBL technologies that are only available on their high-end wireless headphones. Details of these two features are as follows:

– Ambient Aware: Allows users to both listen to music but at the same time listen to the surrounding environment, such as traffic sounds, sirens, loudspeakers.

– Talk through: Allows users to talk comfortably with people around without removing the headset

I have found out how both of these features work. JBL will lower the music volume, reduce the noise cancellation feature and activate the microphone on the earbud to capture the sound of the surrounding environment and play it user’s ear. In Ambient Aware mode, the ratio between music and ambient sound will be 50-50; in Talk through mode, this ratio will be 5-95 (I guess so for you to understand).

Experiencing both of these JBL features for me is very good; in actual cases, I use them every day:

– Ambient Aware: Jogging, Cycling

– Talk through: Talk to your running friends; Talk to the staff who keep the car and protect the company; Talk to colleagues in a few situations.

I often use the Talk through feature rather than Ambient Aware because I run in a residential area and roadside, so there is little traffic. The ambient Aware feature makes me feel like enjoying the song is not complete because there is still mixed noise. However, if you run in a place with heavy traffic, you must make a trade-off because safety comes first. The Talk through feature has a very short activation time; just press to talk immediately. Because Reflect Flow’s earbuds, as I mentioned above, are designed in an ergonomic shape and have a rubber earplug, so it’s quite tight when worn. Even without turning on the music, listening to outside sounds was quite difficult. Talk through feature for a very natural and comfortable conversation experience with the person next to you; I like this feature of JBL.

3. Great battery life:

JBL Reflect Flow has excellent battery life. The frequency of use is as follows:

– I jog for 1 hour a day, wear it while commuting to work for 1 hour and listen in some other situations for 1 hour/day.

– I listen at 80% volume and use the conversation support features often.

The above intensity will take seven days for the Reflect Flow to run out of battery. Actual battery life reaches 24-25 hours/charge (compared to announced 30 hours). I am completely confident to wear this for my long jogging and long weekend cycling sessions (usually lasting about 4-5 hours continuously) without worrying about the battery.

4. High waterproof standard, IPX7:

The feature is small but extremely necessary for sports players. IPX7 waterproof standard is quite high; in theory, the headset can be submerged about 1 meter of water for < 30 minutes without damage. Of course, I don’t dare to soak my headphones to test this for you. But I wore it for a run in 2-3 afternoon rain and found it completely normal.

5. Impressive sound quality:

Before holding the Reflect Flow, the first thing that comes to my mind is that it will have the same sound quality as JBL Flash, but I was wrong. Flash makes a strong impression on me because of its strong bass, and Flow is because of its spaciousness and detail, which may be difficult to find in sports headphones.

Flow still owns powerful bass but is better controlled. Besides, the more spacious space also helps the instruments and details have more space to perform. It should be said a little bit that the attached ear tips of the ear are very shallow; when I wear them and try to fit my ear, I can barely hear anything because the exhaust pipe is blocked. I tried changing the tips, and it sounded significantly better than the accompanying stock tips, and the comfort also increased significantly.

Flow’s voice is very lively as a follow-up headset, suitable for you to listen to genres from fast to very fast, like Kpop to EDM. Flow is also clearer and easier to listen to than UA Flash to listen to more different genres of music.
