amazon Sackboy A Big Adventure reviews
Sackboy: A Big Adventure – LittleBigPlanet is one of the exclusive series of good quality games on the PlayStation in general, which Media Molecule developed – their latest game is Dreams (previously there was Tearaway Unfolded).
Later, when Media Molecule decided to go a different direction, Sumo Digital was assigned by Sony to develop the LittleBigPlanet 3 project. However, the third part of the series did not receive much praise from the review department for the fans.
After a very long time, at the event to introduce the official appearance of PlayStation 5, Sumo Digital reappeared with the “spin-off” version of the series called: Sackboy: A Big Adventure.
After a long time of development, Sackboy: A Big Adventure can still “keep the fire” for fans in particular, or is it a good game for those who own PS4 and PS5 in general?
Right from the first trailer, the writer has felt a great improvement of the company compared to the LittleBigPlanet 3 version. It has been a long time since I have seen a Sony exclusive game that supports playing local co-op or online co-op for up to 4 people but in such a bustling action-adventure “platforming” genre!
Sackboy: A Big Adventure generally owns this genre’s “basic” gameplay: overcoming obstacles in diverse levels and safely reaching the finish line.
At the same Time, do not forget to look for hidden items and “earn” the gems to accumulate points at the end of the game screen to “unlock” new, more lively, funny, and cute clothes.
The levels of Sackboy: A Big Adventure are extremely diverse, quite creative, fun.
These are stages with funky music like Bruno Mars’ hit “Uptown Funk” or “Everybody’s want to be famous” very indie or intense chases, boss fights, etc.
If you haven’t seen it yet, why not try the levels that require talent in the “trial” part of the game, a “bonus” in each world in Sackboy: A Big Adventure.
This part mainly challenges fans who want to experience the “slightly sweaty” difficulty when they race against Time and unpredictable obstacles. Still, the other main levels are not that bad!
That’s also the point that the writer especially likes in Sackboy: A Big Adventure. The difficulty level is moderate, not too difficult to be uneven in Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. Even more pleasant thanks to the fact that the levels are of just the right length, not long nor short.
As a result, replaying the screen to eat enough points is not as boring as this genre’s “hardcore” games.
On the market today, there are also rare games that support local co-op play for up to 4 people (playing multiplayer on the same screen), which also allows all players to adventure together. Save the main storyline too!
If I had to mention, I would only count a few “big hands” like Super Mario Odyssey (but limited, the second player only plays… the hat follows Mario), Knack II or Rayman: Legends or Cuphead.
The design of the screens of Sackboy: A Big Adventure is also very open; moving in a comfortable 3D environment is quite spacious, so playing collaboratively with the family (especially the little ones) is not a big deal, no big obstacle.
The graphics of Sackboy: A Big Adventure are really beautiful, honed very carefully in each playing scene, and look unique!
They are extremely lively, eye-catching, and always rhythmic to each melody appearing on the screen.
From the hordes of soldiers to the wallpapers or the fact that Sackboy moves, flies, faces show colors when “touched” are all taken care of by the motion painters at Sumo Digital’s house to every millimeter.
Especially during this period, the company put a lot of effort into bringing beautiful scenes thanks to the refinement in art direction.
The worlds passing through all leave an impression with different atmospheres, different distinct characteristics.
The sound/music of Sackboy: A Big Adventure seems to be undisputed, every sound in the environment to the music carefully interwoven into each stage (really, each stage!) is very clever, with songs from very familiar to new, full of excitement to stimulate the player’s urge to follow the flow of the journey.
Sometimes while playing, the writer accidentally hears a new song and “picks up” Shazam to find it immediately.
Thanks to that, the writer also has a “new playlist” after taking a break from playing the game.
It can be said that thanks to the strength of the negative face and the design of the screen that is pleasant, difficult enough, and full of fun, it has contributed a lot to the concealment of some unnecessary defects…
Because this version of the game focuses entirely on an adventure, somewhat smaller in scale than the main LittleBigPlanet versions, not to mention just a spin-off, it’s quite unfortunate that the self-created screen can’t contribute again to the strength of the series.
Therefore, the replay value is also somewhat “slightly lost” because after experiencing this journey, we do not have the opportunity to roam in other players’ “platforming” world to prolong the duration of Sackboy: A Big Adventure!
In the current version that the writer reviews, there is no support for online cooperative play (online co-op), so there is no search for other players to play.
We don’t always have the opportunity to gather our friends (especially during the epidemic situation, so we should limit gatherings) to play together, right?
In addition, the game also has a few minor clothing errors (especially when wearing a jacket), such as the shirt flying around or “piercing” the Sackboy’s, or whenever jumping out of the changing area, the frame will freeze and drop slightly.
In general, Sumo Digital has optimized quite well for the game to run smoothly on PS4 in particular.
The last disadvantage that the writer also notices is that often games of this type seem to pay little attention to the plot background?
Like the previous versions, there was also a malicious enemy, and our Sackboy had to set out to find a way to rescue by going through different worlds.
There is no innovation; the same old motifs follow each other.
Another is just a variety of gameplay, and the real purpose is not clear and somewhat forced in the plot.
Although I know Sackboy: A Big Adventure is a family game, when will this genre “evolve” to give itself a better story background and narrative style?
