amazon Somic V1 Monitor reviews
Sound
The overall sound of the V1 Monitor has something similar to Audio Technica’s M50x. The background sound is neutral, but as the headphones are closed, some may sound dark. V1 has a fairly balanced sound, slightly V shaped to create emphasis on the bass as well as the treble.
Bass
MM185 has a very good bass in its price range and the V1 will continue to be between this title for its predecessor. Bass is a little above average, about 6/10. The bass has been reduced, but only a little bit, the bass V1 is still more than average, creating a highlight for the sound is not boring. V1 Monitor’s bass control is very good. Bass is very strong, but not feeling sharp and uncomfortable.
The mid-bass has a good impact, highs and stability. Can not hold us, the bass from the beginning of the song to the end of the song is done well when hit, enough depth but then stopped right, not pull the tail. Such good bass performance makes the V1 fit more genres, but still holds the depth.
Like his brother, the V1 was hit on the mid bass but firm never overlooked the sub bass. As mentioned above, the V1 bass is made quite deep, less roll off. Down to the sub bass, V1 still controls the width and speed of the bass is quite good. Sub bass deep down, but play firm and thick, no feeling of resounding. This is a bit of bass that goes beyond the “neutral” threshold, but is really easy to listen to, even for those who love to hear bass!
When talking about the music in this album, let’s talk about the sound of V1. J’Y Suis Jamias Alle’s play has a very airy space. Combined with mid and treble and clean, the song feels light, definitive and very easy to hear. I can not say that the V1 is as good as the more expensive Open Fullsize earbuds, but to say it is pretty good compared to its more than $50 headphones!
Mid
The mid section of the V1 does not have many highlights, it is slightly backlit, bright and slightly dry. Of course because V1 aims to mix music rather than listening to music. But this is not the case for a bad mid-range. Mid thin, slightly different from the MM185 but not thin, the sound is still thick. Singer’s voice through V1 has a tendency to sound a bit louder than the voice should feel light, fly but less sweet and thick. Adele’s voice in Make you feel my love is a little thicker and lighter than usual. Light but mid V1 is still roll off in place, not too high to create sibilance
The instrumental aspect is probably the strength of the V1. The song Aquai in the album Amélie is quite good separate. The instruments are brighter, not thick so they do not entangle and stick together. Mid is cleaned up, so Yann Tiersen’s orchestras are always airy, prompting. If you listen to this album with a thicker midrange, that’s not going to work!
Treble
On the outside, people will guess that V1 is full of bass and not a bit of treble. But appearance and sound quality are different. Since the V1’s bass is pretty well controlled, the mid and treble parts have more space to play. Treble V1 is quite a lot, there is no case I feel the lack of treble. Treb is full of energy, but still sweet and not sharp so it fits more genres!
Summary
The Somic V1 Monitor is a worthwhile upgrade to the MM185, which has all the strengths and removes some weaknesses. It still has the comfort, still has the light weight to match the long-lasting mix. V1 sound is extremely suitable for mic and also for listening to everyday music with deep bass and tones, natural mid and high treble sound. If you want to find a fullsize earphone under $50 can listen to many types of music and even for recording, the V1 is not a bad choice.
