amazon Sony SRS XB10 reviews
Design
Unlike the square design of the X11, the XB10 is made in cylindrical form with the sound insulation on the top. The body of the speaker is made of rubber with an outer layer made very soft so it feels very strange hand.
The upper surface has a large, slightly raised opening. This part is made of metal and is also painted as the lower color.
Every button is immersed in the inside of the speaker, when pressed for a feeling like clicking on plastic candy. In addition to the basic buttons such as music, volume, power button, the speaker also adds to pair with another speaker of Sony to increase the volume or play in stereo.
Speaker with NFC for fast connectivity to mobile devices.
The bottom of the speaker has holes for the passive membrane to increase the bass.
Connectors are located behind a thick rubber pad that includes a 3.5mm port, a micro USB charging port and a reset button.
The special feature of the product is the flexible rubber handle, users can hook to the bike to go everywhere if you want. XB10 is equipped with waterproof IPX5 so users can peace of mind to use in wet environments without fear of failure.
Experience
The XB10 has a battery life of 16 hours, but actually depends on a lot of different factors. However, the actual time may also exceed 15 hours, so if used on average, can still pass the level of 2 weeks, quite impressive for a compact speaker such as XB10. In the process of using it, we noticed that the soft plastic part of the XB10 is more dirty than other hard plastic or metal, so use this speaker also be careful, clean more.
Despite the extremely small size, the handle reached the palm and just as light as a can of Coca but XB10 volume is quite large. If used in the home, only 50% volume is enough to listen to, but if the outdoors from the range of 80% is still able to enjoy. This is a small speaker but very usable outside!
Sound
Like the predecessor X11, the XB10 offers a different user experience compared to other speaker products due to its compact size. Users can bring this speaker around even by inserting in a jacket pocket. Despite its small size, the XB10 has a fairly large volume and rugged sound. This is really a product for people who are active, outgoing and young music. As an extra bass speaker, the XB10 lacks a switch to turn this feature off, Sony said the XB10 is always on, so users are assured that the speaker is operating at full power, its features.
Although a small speaker but XB10 is quite heavy bass because of the passive vibration at the bottom of the speaker. There are not as many sub bass as the two-tone speakers like the XB20 or XB30, but the XB10 compensates for the mid-bass quite well. Sub bass roll off seems a bit premature, also do not blame because the speaker’s speakers are quite small, not enough power to produce these sounds. This part does not completely disappear, but the light stroke is not as loud as the larger speakers. But the mid bass is a lot more than a small speaker like the XB10. Try with Dumb ways to die, drum up, round and hard. Bass has very good speed, played on the bank long enough to stop rather than pulling the tail too long. The drums in mid bass are heavy, but the high speed like the XB10 is good for fast pop songs. Moving on to Maroon 5’s Payphone, the bass was down enough to be active even outdoors.
This bass is strong but the speed is quite high so there is no feeling of sticking to the middle. The central part of the XB10 as well as general sound, without the highlights and brightness that play in the dress and warmth. But this mid has a high volume and position in the music, so although very compact but very clear. Trying with Alison Krauss’s “You Can Lie”, the XB10 is mid-natural enough. The high mid section of the speakers is not really high, no peak point so it does not generate sibalance. Unlike Sony’s previous extra-bass headsets, the XB10 and its new speakers and earbuds are all enhanced in the mid-range. Mid has a bit more sound, playing from low to high, so the voice is much more natural. An extra bass, but the XB10 is enough to play comfortably light music like Dumb ways to die or Mircle.
Focusing on playing the bass and mid, the treble of the XB10 stopped at an average level. This is a common weakness of both the XB and the XB 10. The amount of treble is not too low, not to full loss and in most cases is still enough, however, the treble is roll off and not metal like some other speakers. In general, for those who listen to the bass, the treble is enough to demand, but for those who love high strips and need sharpness in this band, the XB10 is not perfect.
