DESIGN AND FINISHING
Mirror-like is the strongest impression of the appearance of TFZ X3. When I first saw this artwork, I thought that the shell of the TFZ X3 was a fake metal plastic glossy but not: The entire chassis of the charging box is crafted from 100% real metal. The crust is cool, smooth and surprisingly glittery.
TFZ X3 takes the design of the TFZ X1 to a new level. Keep the familiar lines but all have been improved to become more refined and complete.
The size of the charger of the TFZ X3 is reduced in length, width and thickness only be 2/3 when comparing to the charger box on the X1. Thanks to that, the mobility of TFZ X3 is increased and also makes the appearance more refined.
The charging port on the box has been upgraded to the latest Type-C standard, making it compatible with current new charging cables.
The hinge of the charging box is also upgraded significantly. With TFZ X3, you can completely open the box with one hand very easily because the hinge is added to a joint to make the opening motion more flexible and smoother. The hinge is also made of metal, not cheap plastic, to help ensure durability when operating. Happily, TFZ listened to customer feedback when TFZ X1 was complained a lot about the difficulty of opening and closing the lid.
As for the housing of the headset, TFZ X3 has also improved a lot. It is still a waterdrop-style housing, compact and has a good grip.
TFZ X3 has been upgraded to a shiny, hardier metal faceplate. The physical buttons are thus completely removed, replaced by a convenient touch control button hidden under the TFZ logo.
The body shape of the headset is refined with 3D printing technology to increase ear grip.
The tail of the headset is made longer than the old version, one to help increase stability when wearing and optimal microphone placement.
TECHNOLOGY AND IMPRESSIVE FEATURES
Not only changes in appearance, but TFZ X3 also brings tremendous improvements in internal hardware technology:
First, TFZ X3 is equipped with Qualcomm QCC3020 chipset which supports the latest Bluetooth 5.0 and a series of proprietary Qualcomm technologies.
TFZ X3 will support the APTX Bluetooth format, which will help transmit higher-resolution audio than conventional AAC or SBC.
Qualcomm True Wireless Plus technology allows simultaneous connection with up to 2 headsets to reduce latency and increase signal stability. (Only enabled with Qualcomm SoC-enabled streaming devices that support Qualcomm TrueWireless ™ Technology).
As for the control, TFZ X3 has been converted to touch mode. Unlike other cheap earphones, TFZ X3 fully supports all operations from turning up and down the volume of the song with a single touch button.
Regarding the ability to talk, TFZ X3 will be equipped with not one but up to 2 microphones on each side of the headset. The pair of microphones, combined with Qualcomm’s CVC noise-canceling technology, makes the TFZ X3’s noise-canceling capability comparable to that of dedicated conversation headsets. According to the manufacturer, TFZ X3 filters wind noise at speeds of up to 30 km/ h.
In terms of sound, TFZ X3 continues to affirm the serious investment of TFZ in terms of sound similar to its predecessor X1. Equipped with up to 2 BA drivers for each ear, twice as much as before. Each driver takes on a different frequency range to help sound reproduce in detail and fullness in all 3 sound bands. TFZ also promises that TFZ X3 will bring a very high-fidelity and realistic sound experience to this new headset.
TFZ X3 continues to hold the IPX7 high-end waterproof standard to help headphones withstand high-intensity exercise or wet rain.
Battery life up to 7 hours of continuous use for one time of full charge. The charging box provides an additional 3 times of charging the headset, increasing the total usage time to 28 hours.
SOUND EXPERIENCE
Experience the connection of TFZ X3 without any significant problems. All you need to do is lift the headset out of the charging box and search for the device. I tested with both iPhone and Android phones running Qualcomm S845 chips. Of course, because the product uses Qualcomm chips, the devices running with its chips will support better. TFZ X3 can connect individually to each phone. You can store each ear and use the other ear normally without reconnecting the device.
For iPhone or other phones, you can only put the extra ear in the charging box (left ear) if you want to use the headset on one side.
I think the TFZ X3 shows better ear holding and stability than the previous TFZ X1. The ear tips are longer and the housing is trimmed to make it stable in the ear cavity, even when practicing or running. The headset is almost not protruding out when worn, very fit and neat.
Testing the noise filtering feature of the microphone on TFZ X3 gave very satisfactory results. I put my headphones on at the intersection and made a call to my friend via TFZ X3. The person on the other end of the line said that the call was good, he didn’t hear the horn and the engine when I was talking. The voice is clear, though there is still some background noise. TFZ X3’s soundproofing is also very good when I listen. Not too much outside noise makes me feel distracted or uncomfortable when listening to music or listening to calls. With all that shown, TFZ X3 deserves praise and has a good replacement for bulky single-sided earphones.
Finally, in terms of sound quality, TFZ X3 retains the balance of the X1 but the music has been greatly improved. This is also one of the True Wireless models with the cleanest and quietest background I’ve heard in the past 2 years.
Bass range: Very commendable for a headset that uses the BA driver. Bass reviews have good quality, deep and plump. Sub-bass has a much better force on the X1, feels the vibration in each drum clearly. Mid-bass is neat, the response speed of the bass range is quite fast thanks to the characteristics of the BA driver. Bass has a fine texture, very good control, does not ring and stick together. With this bass, TFZ X3 can play well the genre that requires fast and strong bass like Punk Rock or EDM.
Mid-range: Mid forward, smooth, clear and detailed. The thickness of the vocal at a neutral level should be good in both male and female voices. A little bit of clicking on the high mid makes the high notes more flying. The mid-range of TFZ X3 is quite neutral, does not cause too much color, so it is not an exaggeration to consider this as a test earphone. Thanks to the APTX codec, TFZ X3 has good instrument details. Although the ability to separate the class is inferior to wired headphones of the same level, but for a True Wireless headset, the TFZ X3 has done its job very well. The sound of the instrument sounds airy, there is enough space between the instruments so that they do not get mixed up.
Treble strip: The TFZ X3 treble strip is very beautiful, brittle, bright. It’s rare that True Wireless headphones in this price range can reproduce the vivid treble range. TFZ X3 reminds me of the treble strip of the Jabra Elite 75t. Treble strip details are very good, controlled and up to. There was no intense sensation or sibilant nodules.
Sound-stage: Spacious and airy with depth. Musical instruments and singers have a comfortable space to perform, there is no sense of urgency and fatigue when listening for long periods of time. The position of the instrument in the space is arranged quite accurately.
CONCLUDE
With a price of less than under $150, TFZ X3 is creating a new standard in the medium range of True Wireless headphones. High-end design, good finishing. Features conversational quality and sound quality are extremely convincing. What more could you need from a True Wireless headset in this price range?
TFZ X3 will be an ideal choice not only for active young people but it is suitable for all users.
