Thieaudio is the Chi-Fi audio brand that has made waves in the IEM community in recent years after releasing two very successful IEMs: Monarch and Clairvoyance.
Legacy 4 is a beautiful IEM model of the Legacy line that ThieAudio has just launched. This headset is equipped with a hybrid drive with one dynamic driver and 3 BA drivers combined with two adjustment switches that allow listeners to change the good bass and midrange frequencies.
An IEM model is located between the 2 Legacy 3 and 5 released before and received a lot of praise from the headphone player community.
BOXING AND ACCESSORIES
The packaging reminds me of opening a Russian Matryoshka doll. When you open the box, you will discover another box! This box protects a specific gray zip-lock clamshell case. This gray carrying case again contains another small padded carrying case, large enough to hold and protect the IEM and cables comfortably.

DESIGN
According to Thieaudio, Legacy 4 is made entirely by hand; each headset is unique, thoroughly checked for quality before being delivered to the user.
Legacy 4 has a design learned from IEM models of qdc house – China’s number 1 cult IEM headset company. The semi-custom housing is optimized for Asian ear molds, so it is quite compact but still provides comfort and good sound insulation.
Legacy 4 has housing made from medical grade Resin from Germany. The housing is made of clear plastic, allowing you to see the driver system inside the headset. The sound pipe and housing are made in one block.
Like ThieAudio Legacy 3, Legacy 4 is also equipped with a switch cluster to help fine-tune the headset’s sound quality. That is a special function that is usually only found on high-end IEM models.
The included conductor uses the standard 2pin 0.78mm, is knitted with four cores, and is silver in color. Overall, the conductor is quite good quality. All the parts on the band have a solid, durable feel.
Silver OCC conductors help transmit audio signals fully and accurately.
In summary, the design and finishing quality of ThieAudio Legacy 4 is at a very good level, creating a sense of luxury and elegance not inferior to expensive Custom headsets.
FEELING
Legacy 4’s housing is semi-custom, so it feels very comfortable to wear. The ear hook has good flex and grip that will fit around the ear without creating any uncomfortable pressure.
When worn correctly, the Legacy 4 is in a very reasonable proportion to the shape of the ear; you can wear the Legacy 4 for hours without any discomfort.
The soundproofing ability of the ear is at a good level. If you use more advanced ear tips like Azla XELASTEC or Spinfit, the sound insulation and comfort will be further improved.
SOUND CONFIGURATION
Legacy 4 will be equipped with four drivers on each side in good configuration, including a brand new 8mm poly diaphragm dynamic driver for the bass range, designed for fast bass with good texture.
Combined with 3 American BA Knowles ED29689 drivers manufactured in cooperation with Bellsing to emphasize the mid and high-frequency range.
In addition, users can adjust the sound quality through the switch on the housing.

SMALL ADJUSTABLE SWITCH SYSTEM
According to Thieaudio, the Legacy 4 crossover is integrated into the 2-switch tuning system that allows users to adjust bass and mids. This tuning system will help you listen to almost any music genre.

For me, the changes in sound across different settings are noticeable, though not too dramatic.
I adjusted the setting to Default on Legacy 4 to experience, and below is my personal opinion about the sound of Legacy 4 at this setting.
SOUND QUALITY
With a very high sensitivity of 108db and a very low impedance of 9.4 ohms, this IEM easily pairs with almost any source. However, a high-quality DAC/amp or dap kit will unleash the full potential of this headset.
Legacy 4 can be an IEM that Audiophiles find quite attractive; the sound is quite flat with high dynamics and accuracy, clear, not colorful.
In my opinion, Legacy 4 is well suited for instrumental, acoustic, jazz, new age/world, opera, and orchestral/classical recordings.
Bass sound
The amount of bass generated from the 8mm dynamic driver is quite good, and the controllability and clarity are excellent. Bass hits fast and very naturally. The bass texture is outstanding, and the sense of resonance is distinctive from instruments such as the cello and timpani.
Pretty impressive for an IEM that produces this frequency range with a dynamic driver. However, the bass may not meet the expectations of bassheads in terms of volume and intensity.
Midtones
Legacy 4 has a midrange on the warm side of the neutral, quite spacious and airy. The vocals have a neutral position, neither too close nor too far away.
What stands out about Legacy 4’s mid-range is the resolution and spatial separation of the track. You can hear every nuance and subtlety of vocals and instruments in the recording.
High voice
Legacy 4 has a high sound summed up in 3 bright, clear, and sharp words, creating an airy and shimmering mix for the mix. It is worth mentioning that I did not detect any sound, just a note that is too bright which can be tiring to listen.
Soundstage
Thieaudio Legacy 4 provides a soundstage with good separation and positioning of both vocals and instruments. The Legacy 4’s soundstage has moderate depth and above-average width. The neutral atmosphere between the instruments makes the overall soundstage quite open.
CONCLUDE
The ThieAduio Legacy 4 is a remarkable IEM in the price segment. These headphones carry a well-suited sound to listen to the monitor or the discerning Audiophile who enjoys natural, accurate, and clear sound reproduction.
