amazon Corsair K95 RGB Platinum reviews
Open the box
The first is the packaging. As a premium product, the packaging of the K95 RGB Platinum is beautifully printed and sharp with remarkable features. The box of this keyboard is also quite heavy because it is very well packed.
Inside the packaging is a black box with the Corsair logo imprinted, ensuring the keyboard is best protected from external influences. Twice the box also once again confirms the level of this keyboard.
Lifting the lid of the box, we can see immediately that the main character is neatly placed in the center. Our main character has a scratched aluminum plate for a very good feel. Corsair removable parts and armrests are located in the box below the key. The K95’s accessories are quite basic, including manuals, warranty cards, gaming buttons and armrests.
As a full size keyboard, K95 RGB Platinum is full of ANSI 104 buttons with the same layout as media buttons. The left side is the setting profile change buttons, adjusting the LED brightness and Windows key. Through the Corsair Utility Engine, you can reset the Windows key with the function of locking the shortcut keys such as Alt + Tab, Alt + F4, Shift + Tab to avoid interrupting the game process.
Corsair K95 RGB Platinum media key on Mac
Meanwhile, the right side are Stop, Back, Play / Pause, Forward, Mute / Unmute buttons and rollers that increase and decrease the volume characteristic of Corsair keyboards. In particular, these media keys work very well on MacOS.
Feel during use
K95’s left macro key cluster is covered with a surface with a pattern similar to steel foundations at military bases. This surface also helps the keys reduce a lot of slippery. These keys can be assigned to any key or key combination according to the user’s needs through the CUE tool. I personally saw this as a point except because I was frequently mistakenly tabbed to G2, left Shift to G5 or something.
Equipment for the K95 RGB Platinum is a gray Cherry MX Speed switch that is currently in exclusive agreement with Cherry and Corsair. The cover of the switch is made entirely of transparent plastic so that the LED solder on the board can be evenly sprung up, more beautiful. Cherry MX Speed is an improved version of Cherry MX Red with linear, linear stroke with the same force of 45g.
As its name suggests, MX Speed has a very short journey of only 1.2mm compared to the normal 2mm to help the downward keys get faster. It is unclear whether this is really an advantage for gamers or not, but the short-key journey feels quite unsteady, so this gray swtich line receives a lot of mixed compliments.
With a favorite MX Clear, this is probably not the keyboard for me. Not to mention, if you have played custom lube carefully, you will be slightly uncomfortable with the ping ping coming from the sound of the spring with the switch on K95. This is also an inherent limitation of the Cherry RGB switch line. A praiseworthy point of the K95 RGB Platinum is that Corsair has used the latest Cherry switch lots that have been improved with smooth contact surfaces.
The bottom of the keyboard is the non-slip rubber parts for good performance. However, the base to increase the slope of the key does not have rubber to reduce the anti-slip effect compared to when not erected. This is a pity, but unfortunately, Corsair should pay more attention when designing.
RGB LED effect
RGB LED is almost a necessity of gaming keyboards on the market today. In its high-end segment, K95 RGB Platinum has almost no rivals due to its extremely diverse LED effect and fully customizable tools.
The Corsair Utility Engine provides users with up to 10 different LED effects. Not to mention, in Advanced mode, this tool helps K95 owners to set the color of each key, even the media buttons as well as the upper-left function buttons. The K95 RGB internal memory can store up to 3 different profiles with each profile containing an LED and color effect. Therefore, even when you unplug it to another device, you can still press the switch button to switch back and forth 3 of your favorite LED effects.
These are the three default K95 RGB LED effects with rotating, wave and rain effects.
The Corsair logo on the top of the keyboard is also made transparent so that the LED on the LED strip above can be enhanced by aesthetic effect. The border LED is also a feature that helps K95 stand out in the market because LED RGB borders are usually only seen on expensive custom keyboards. This LED strip is constituted by 19 RGB LED bulbs that can be customized colors through CUE.

Auxiliary features
One of the most common accessories on expensive gaming keyboards is the removable armrest. K95’s armrest is fixed with a plastic mount that can be easily installed or removed. This armrest of the K95 RGB even has a removable pad with 2 different surfaces, a smooth and a more rough section to prevent slippery. It is true that expensive keyboards with different accessories must also be “full option”.
Like other expensive gaming keyboards, Corsair also equips its keyboard with a USB port so users can plug in storage devices or charge phones without having to go to the case. Therefore, the K95 RGB has up to 2 USB wires, one to provide power and signal, one for extended USB ports. The K95 RGB connection cord is also covered with cloth despite being quite sturdy. A minus point of this keyboard is that although expensive, the contact part of the USB port is not gold plated like other competitors.
Overall, Corsair K95 RGB Platinum is a very desirable keyboard for every gamer. However, the selling price is quite high, about $200, making the dream even more remote for most people.
