– Regarding 3rd party app support, Android users can transfer data to Google Fit, it also works with Strava, and we can send data from activities like running, cycling, and swimming to popular applications.

Running

– Through the process of experience, we found that for outdoor running and trail running, T-Rex Pro works well in tracking distances with quite a high accuracy, but they still have slight differences compared to the data recorded on the Garmin Enduro.

– The device usually displays the average speed a bit faster, but it is not too inaccurate for us to wonder.

– T-Rex Pro also creates an Elevation chart (a term that indicates the total altitude above sea level that a practitioner or athlete who runs, cyclists, climbs, etc achieves during training and competition. ), with elevation gain and elevation loss levels.

– In addition, it also displays the level of Cadence – the running pace (the number of steps moved / the number of steps to the ground in 1 minute), for professional athletes, the cadence level is usually 180 times/minute or more.

– With aerobic and anaerobic training effectiveness scores (2 methods of physical training with different intensity and tempo), the majority of aerobic exercises give scores that match the scores on the chest device of Garmin, and anaerobic is 2 points higher. All of this is influenced by the accuracy of the heart rate monitor.

– Although the ability to support the satellite system has been more diverse, the application sometimes does not show the route we programmed there are still some software bugs that need to be resolved.

Swimming

– We did not dare to test the device outside in a lake or stream, but only tested the T-Rex Pro in the pool. And we were really surprised at the device’s very good water resistance and swimming tracking when compared to the Form Swim Goggles (the tracking device is designed like swimming goggles).

– As soon as the user selects the pool size, they will receive a real-time graph showing the Stroke Rate (the term for the number of strokes when swimming with both hands in 1 minute), turn on the automatic lap tracking swim, and keep the screen on during the swim. Users can also set reminders based on laps, and time, and even remind you when they need water and energy.

– When you are swimming, the screen will show you real-time statistics such as training time, distance, lap, average speed, average SWOLF (parameters show swimming efficiency) wading – combination of strokes (number of strokes and time spent swimming in one direction of the pool), and average stroke rate. – The indoor fitness exercises are not much different from other Amazfit watches such as jumping rope, indoor rowing, etc. It also provides some additional stats in addition to the training duration and data heartbeat.

– For manually or automatically tracked indoor rowing sessions, metrics such as paddle fan speed are similar to those generated by row tracking on the Garmin Enduro.

Fitness tracking

– This new Amazfit model is quite stable and consistent with what the company announced for 24/7 activity tracking, and automatic sleep tracking when turning the watch on and off.

– With daily tracking, users can check their Activity Goal to see daily steps, distance traveled, and time. On the application, we can study the weekly and monthly step count data, thereby seeing if we are persistent enough to maintain or not.

– In terms of accuracy, we found that in some cases, there was a difference of fewer than 500 steps compared to Garmin and Fitbit trackers, and it took a while to get more steps as shown in the picture. Users will receive a reminder if they are inactive every hour, so be sure to exercise lightly or move a few hundred steps to make these reminders go away.

– You will also have a PAI (Personal Activity Intelligence) assessment score, which measures physical activity based on heart rate index, a very nice feature that we have mentioned on other Amazfit watch products, helping users. Heart rate accuracy and SpO2

This app is mainly for monitoring resting heart rate rather than for exercise tracking.

– On the watch, you can take measurements on the spot, and these are only up to 1bpm (beats per minute) from the heart rate monitor on a Clinically tested oximeter.

– On the app, you can view your resting heart rate, view your heart rate zones with your daily maximum, minimum, and average heart rate. The device works quite reliably, it monitors continuously and daily, and there is a difference of about 4-5bpm compared to the Garmin optical heart rate monitor.

– For exercise, we did not record very good results. Whether it’s moderate-tempo, steady-state, or high-intensity workouts, the maximum and average stats vary widely and are far from the data we get from the Garmin HRM Pro chest strap.

– As mentioned above, through this heart rate data users will receive PAI scores and detailed training and recovery information provided by Firsbeat.

– The question is how accurate and reliable does heart rate monitoring data affect exercise? It is also used for stress monitoring, it seems that spot measurement is much more accurate than continuous measurement and monitoring.

The SpO2 sensor allows for on-site measurements, not continuous monitoring. The device will also remind you to check when reaching a slope of more than 400 meters, and do the same when reaching a total slope of 4000 meters or more.

– This feature is not intended for medical use, simply as a reference to know your current blood oxygen level. However, the results obtained are quite similar to the iHealth oxygen pulse meter that we tested.

Features

As a smartwatch model, the T-Rex Pro offers all the features available on the T-Rex. Like most new Amazfit watches, the device pairs well with both Android phones and iPhones, and to us, there’s nothing particularly new: notifications, music controls, weather forecasts, set alarms, and the ability to set reminders.

– We’ve seen features like smart assistants and built-in music players appear on other Amazfit watches, but the T-Rex Pro is still just basic.

– You can swipe right from the watch home screen to see notifications. For notifications like email, you can only see the subject line in case there are too many messages, notifications from other applications such as WhatsApp are hidden on top of each other, you will need to swipe your hand on the phone to see details content. Unlike other smartwatch models like Samsung Galaxy Watch, the device also does not display images.

– Music controls work pretty well, but it’s a bit disappointing that you can’t access music controls during exercise tracking.

– Weather viewing feature always brings an interesting experience of unique display and intuitiveness. Other features such as setting reminders, stopwatch, and timer settings all work well, with no complaints.

– You can easily change the watch face pre-installed on the device, in addition, you can access the Zepp application on your phone to download more models to suit your personal preferences.

Battery life

– The T-Rex Pro has the same 390mAh battery as the first T-Rex, and depending on how you use it, the time will vary. In normal mode, the device can last from 18 to 20 days and 9 days with heavy and frequent usage.

– When switching to GPS mode for outdoor activities, the watch can work from 20 to 40 hours.

– We tested the device duration with all features turned on and regular fitness tracking, the time lasted nearly 10 days with a daily decrease of about 10-15%.

– About the battery life when used in GPS mode, we recorded an average of 1 hour, and the battery loss is about 6-7%, this reduction is quite consistent with the 20 hours of operation as announced by Zepp, 40 hours is difficult to achieve.
