One of the seemingly simple questions, but many people wonder, is “how to connect AirPods to a computer running Windows operating system”? AirPods work very smoothly on iPhones and Macs, but what about Windows PCs?
Fortunately, the steps to set up using AirPods on Windows computers and Android phones are quite easy. Readers can follow the step-by-step instructions below.
For Windows Computers
Step 1: Put the headset in the charging case.
First, we will need to put the AirPods in the charging case. On a Windows computer, open Start Menu > Settings and then select the Devices section. Make sure your device is open for Bluetooth connection.
Step 2:
Next, select Add Bluetooth or other device and select Bluetooth in the next interface. The computer will now start searching for nearby Bluetooth devices. Open the AirPods charging case and hold down the connection button on the back of the case until the white LED flashes (when the light flashes, you don’t need to hold the key anymore).
You should see your AirPods appear on the list of available devices. Select the AirPods headset to connect to it.
The AirPods will connect to your Windows computer almost instantly.
Select Done to close this window, and the AirPods are ready for you to use. If you want to continue using the headset on your iPad, iPhone, or Mac, you’ll need to go into the Bluetooth interface to reconnect to it.
(If you use iOS 14, iPadOS 14, or macOS Big Sur and the latest AirPods Pro firmware, you’ll get quick switching between Apple devices if you share the same Apple ID on each device.)
Step 3:
To reconnect AirPods to your Windows computer, open the Bluetooth menu from the taskbar and select Show Bluetooth devices, then select the AirPods headset and press the Connect button to connect.
All settings for AirPods headphones on Apple devices (such as noise cancellation, transparency mode, or spatial audio) will be preserved when connecting the headset to a Windows computer. You will not be able to change these settings because Windows does not support it, so if you want to change anything, you must connect the headset to an Apple device to customize it as you like.
For Android Phones
– Open the lid of AirPods, AirPods Pro
– Hold down the pair button on the back of the headset box until the light flashes white
– Go to Android’s Bluetooth settings and select the headset to connect.
On AirPods, AirPods Pro, PowerBeats Pro boxes, there is a Pair button.
Just press and hold for a few seconds, the headset will switch to Pair mode (white flash)
When you need to use the ear on the iPhone, select the ear, and it switches the connection back and forth very quickly.
AirPods Pro used on Android still have noise cancellation, long squeeze turns off noise canceling, quick squeeze once to stop/play music.
So we can see that the AirPods headset is completely cross-platform compatible whether you use an Apple device or a computer running Windows operating system.
