amazon ReCore: Definitive Edition reviews
A year ago, when ReCore was released, it received a lot of criticism from the players. If you have not experienced it, you may think that the worst case scenario is that the game is too bad. But not so, even the game was great, especially when the team involved in developing it all “big brother” in the industry. However, ReCore is caught up with so many unacceptable technical problems that it ruins the player’s entire experience. After a few bug fixes nowhere, the game went into oblivion until the end of August, unexpectedly launching ReCore: Definitive Edition. It’s still an old game, but it has many improvements, including 4K graphics support, HDR, bug fixes, comes with the new DLC that expands the storyline. This version has made ReCore one of the most exciting action adventure games this year.
ReCore’s story: Definitive Edition takes the player to the character Joule. After waking up from the cryosleep cocoon, you recognize the world as nobody but a loyal dog, Mack. The plan to renovate the planet Far Eden does not seem to go according to plan. The rogue robots are all over the place, ready to attack the character of the player for no reason. They should have heard human commands. Before you know what’s going on during hibernation, Joule will have to fight rebel robbers and solve puzzles to find the clues of the truth.
With Action Adventure, ReCore: Definitive Edition brings a lot of familiarity from the same genre. You can compare it like the Mega Man X version but in 3D space and the game is built some more elements to make the experience more enjoyable. The first thing worth mentioning is the battle system in color. During the game, you will find new ammunition, and there will be differences in colors and features. Similarly, rogue bots have the same colors, the most useful is what color monsters fired bullets that. However, Joule is not alone in the fight to find the truth. She is supported by the “undoing” robots, called Corebots. There are a total of three Corebots, but there are up to five frames for players to change as needed. Each Corebot combined with a different chassis will have different pros and cons and the very nature of the chassis.
The Corebot system is a bright spot in ReCore. Mack is shaped like a dog, with the ability to “sniff” hidden objects. Seth is a spider-like shape, capable of climbing and clinging to a railroad-like track. Finally, Duncan has a gigantic, unparalleled gorilla, with the ability to smash everything. Later on, players will find a new set of frames, changing the abilities of the original Corebot. Corebots and frameworks have created a new experience in ReCore, allowing players to access old areas that were previously impossible due to lack of skills. However, this factor is not abused in most of the main missions. I appreciate this.
System rebuild and upgrade in ReCore: Definitive Edition is well designed, but not effective in the experience as expected, largely due to the player’s Corebot often ineffective in combat, especially the high level later. In the battle against rogue bots, players have two choices, firing them or Extract Core. Each choice has different pros and cons. If you choose to destroy them, you will pick up the colorful “booty” used to make blueprint or essentially the “armor” of the Corebot. These items can also be obtained from trunks and grafted or split from higher or lower grade items for processing purposes. In the case of the Extract Core, players do not get a crafting item, but rather Core, which is used to upgrade Corebot’s core stats, blood, labor and players.

The world of ReCore: Definitive Edition is vast but divided into different areas. The Definitive version has improved quite a bit, but most of the time, it’s only noticeable when the PC experience is using an SSD. Notably, the problem of loading every time a character dies is much faster, taking just seconds instead of minutes to reload the entire screen as before. And yet, you can experience a new robot called Tank, which has been “unknown” for unknown reasons when the game debut. Even so, almost all new content is focused on this character. It helps to solve too high difficulty levels in previous sections where players must find other ways to approach in the absence of Tank. While ReCore: Definitive Edition still re-uses existing ideas, this time around it brings a more complete third-party viewing experience. For those who love adventure exploring, audio logs scattered throughout the map and the search for 112 Prismatic Core will probably keep the hardcore players longer in the game.
However, the game still has a few issues worth mentioning, one of which makes me most confused is the promotion of Joule and the Corebot. To be precise, this factor does not allow the character to acquire new skills or new weapons as is often seen, it is merely a limitation that forces the player to “play” to the required level with the quest. The last story according to the story only. Although the Definitive made a clearer distinction between the armors and the “extra rewards” for the Corebots, it did not explain why Joule needed promotion and no other purpose than to have to. Play to the level mentioned above. This type of gameplay design is clearly not beautiful, if not discouraged. On the other hand, graphics are not as impressive as the experience the game brings. The Corebots look cool, but the rogue bots look just like each other with a bit of change, not a lot. Nevertheless, ReCore: Definitive Edition is still a welcome addition to the map with two new maps and ten new caves. The new areas are quite interesting when accompanied by content that extends the old plot. However, the end of the game probably did not make me feel satisfied as there were many unanswered questions left.
Finally, if compared to the original version, ReCore: Definitive Edition is really a big improvement and welcome, especially when the game is discounted for new players, and free for the old players. Although there are still some problems that have not been resolved perfectly yet, this is a “Okay” price for the experience that the game brings. If you like 3D adventure action adventure, do not miss this game.
