Sound
Somic MH438 is equipped with a system called “Thunder Drums low frequency strengthening system” to enhance the bass. But the MH438 has a fairly balanced sound, not the bass as you think.
Bass
Bass is probably the hardest part at Onear. The way to wear bass at Onear is greatly reduced: not close to the eardrum as Inear and not as tight as the headphones. But Somic has done pretty well just like PR. When you put it on your ear, the bass is not the first to hit your ear, but if you try to listen carefully, you will notice the 483i has a nice bass with Onear. The bass is slightly less, not taking up much space. Even if you listen to a lot of bass, you will say MH483i lack bass. But such a volume is suitable, especially for playing many types of music. Bass 483i focuses on speed rather than volume. The speed of the bass is fast, decisive and does not have a bit of a tail. Impact is at a good level.
Somic MH483i (along with many other Onear headphones) still focus on mid bass but can not go too deep. The bass is clearly and fast. Walking In The Air can clearly see that the bass is not deep enough to stop at an acceptable level.
The MH483i has a lightweight and compact bass. This is good for music lovers. I am absolutely satisfied with the MH483i listening to vocal or classic, the bass tracks need not be too strong. Dance and DJ are weak points of the headphones, because the bass is not much. If you are looking for a more powerful bass then you might want to switch to the MM 185, a headphone with a bass volume of more than 483i.
Mid
If you have heard the AKG K420 mid to the MH483i … quite contrary. Mid of AKG is very advanced, bright and slightly dry. MH483i in particular and Somic in particular often make the mid back slightly. Mid 483i seems a bit dark, warm. Mid K420 focuses on fidelity, showcasing strong vocalist the MH483i creates smoother, more comfortable and sweet. In other words, the word “tone” is quite similar to the MM 185. But one thing that the 483i other 185 is that the mid 483i is a bit thinner, not as thick and warm as the fullsize brother. This is understandable as the 483i is Onear, so this is unavoidable. Mid up to a certain threshold will roll off rather than climb up, so the MH483i is not a sib at all.
Over a period of experience, I find the MH483i’s midpoints with slightly lowered pops, but not with the high voices of Mariah Carey or Celine Dion. For example Royals, MH483i voice Lorde very good, warm, strong. Celine Dion’s voice is a bit lacking, when raised to voice a little lack of echo and thin. I’m not talking about the MH483i, but the high pitch of MH483i is backward and warm, so it does not get out of the background.

Treble
The bass and the midrange are fine, but what I find missing on the MH483i is the treble. Treble is clearly a bit sinking compared to the other two bands. The tipping of the treble just stopped at a temporary level. I hope that if we make the next version of MH483i (mark ii, rev 2, …) then a bit more in the treble range. With headphones, one element that determines the sound field as well as the airiness of the whole thing is probably treble. If the MH483i adds a bit of treble, the sound will be a bit brighter and “easier to hear”.
Conclude
Somic MH483i is indeed “tiny baby” when placed next to the other headphones of the company. But to me this is a wise move of the company. The MH483i is compact so it is suitable for people who are moving, not foldable and put into pairs. The MH483i features a soft, easy listening sound with fast bass, good impact, warm mid and back, treble smooth. If you like the compact, light, Somic MH483i is the headset for you.
