amazon Sony Alpha A330 reviews
The Sony Alpha A330 is one of the latest models in Sony’s line of DSLRs. The machine is the successor of the Alpha A300 with almost identical features: 10.2 Megapixel CCD sensor, anti-shake in the camera body works well with all lenses, fast Live View system and rotating screen vertical. The big change in the A330 is a slightly smaller and lighter exterior than the predecessor, coupled with a simpler push button system for the newcomer to the DSLR.
Sony has completely redesigned the outer shell for the Alpha A330, creating a different look compared to the competition. In particular, the handle is quite abnormal – it is shorter than the other models and lack of protrusions at the top, keeping the middle finger from slipping. Those familiar with the DSLR will not feel comfortable with the A330, but of course, the feel of the hand is very subjective and may be more convenient for beginners. With a shorter design than the predecessor, the A330 weighs in at 539 grams (a reduction of 121 grams), compared to the Canon 1000D and Olympus E520, it is still bulky and weighs a few dozen grams.
In addition to changing the look, Sony also rearranged the position of a series of buttons, based on customer feedback. The flash is designed to be higher than before, but unfortunately, the brightness (GN) is a bit weaker than competitors like the Canon 1000D.
The Alpha 330’s viewfinder uses penta-mirror glass (not a five-prism prism), giving a coverage of 95% and a magnification of 0.74. Compared to competitors like the Canon 1000D and Nikon D3000, the same coverage, but the smaller magnification makes the frame layout as well as the hand focus is not as comfortable as the opponent. Also, to see all the parameters in the viewfinder, you have to squeeze your eyes on the viewfinder, so people wearing glasses should pay attention to this aspect.
The reason the viewfinder of the A330 is relatively small is that Sony adds an additional sensor, dedicated to live-view, which makes direct focusing through the screen quicker and more accurate. This design allows only 90% of the capture frame to be seen, however, faster and more accurately than live-view directly on the main sensor because it uses the main focus system without having to turn it on. The mirror flips up slowly and causing noise. But because of the extra photos, the camera does not allow large zooms on the screen for manual focus. The midrange model, the A500-550, has both live-view systems for the user to choose from.

The 2.7-inch vertical flip, 230-pixel resolution makes it possible to shoot well in the lifting position over the head and across the waist. Like most DSLRs today, the Sony Alpha uses a main screen to display the shutter speed and rotates 90 degrees when it is mounted on the camera body.
Sony has changed the battery life from the A200 to the A900 with a new battery to reduce weight and size. The cost is half the battery capacity. Sony claims that the battery still supports 500 shots against the A300’s 730, but unfortunately, the machine does not display the exact percentage of remaining power, but rather the battery icon. .
Like the Sony DSLRs of the same type, the Alpha A330 is fairly conservative on image processing, slightly out of focus and lacking in sharpness when compared to other competitors. Can be improved simply by modifying the Standard Creative Style or by switching to Vivid. This can make potential customers of the A330, who like the Sony brand and want to move from compact up, more satisfied.
The details of the image, the A330 is not inferior to competitors in the same category. However, when ISO is up to 400, color chroma artefacts begin to look clearer and the noise is less smooth. At ISO 800, the A330 experienced a significant drop in quality compared to the competition, with the picture becoming quite soft. Up to 1,600, the situation goes down further, because noise cancellation deactivates the details and makes the image unclean, especially when compared to other competitors like the Canon 1000D, Nikon D90. Because the A330 still uses old photosensitivity, the results are not surprising. Maybe its noise level is lower than A380, but still lag behind other models. If you take ISO 400 or less, it does not matter, but if you shoot 800 or more, you may notice other models.
When Sony launches the A330, A230 and A380, it’s hard to see why so many photographers are upset because they are most accustomed to having more powerful features such as resolution. Higher resolution, faster capture, bigger and more detailed screen. That’s not to mention the modern features like filming.
Sony completely avoided that trend with the new starter series by keeping the same electronics as they were and simply inserting them into a newly designed case with a revised interface. Of course, there is a switch from CF to SD / Memory Stick Duo and HDMI, but no new features.
