amazon Dunu Studio SA6 reviews
This review will come to DUNU Studio SA6, the studio IEM headset model from the DUNU house. True to the number in the name, this headset is equipped with six drivers on each side and a 3-way crossover, a unique housing design. Going into this review, I hope that the SA6 will be a worthy product for the price difference compared to the previously released Studio SA3 model.
BOXING AND ACCESSORIES
The box of DUNU Studio SA6 is made very compact compared to the DK series. A colorful cardboard cover surrounds the black inner box.
Inside the box is a blue imitation leather case that holds the headphones and cable. The rest of the accessories are stored in another smaller box.
Here is what you will get:
– Detachable 8-core SPC conductor jack module
– Containers
– 3.5mm to 6.3mm adapter
– 4.4 mm BL TRRRS plug
– SE jack 3.5 mm TRS
– 2.5 mm. BL TRRS plug
– Cleaning tool/switching tool
– 11 pairs of silicone ear tips with three different types
DESIGN AND FINISHING
The most interesting highlight in DUNU Studio SA6 is the faceplate using the stable wood material. Not only giving an impressive appearance, but each headset is also a unique version because the wood grain is completely random; no two pairs of headphones are the same.
The housing part uses German resin material and is hand-finished for stunning transparency and seamlessness, different from the 3D case printing like on SA3.
Inside, DUNU Studio SA6 is equipped with 6 BA drivers and a 3-way crossover. Including 2 BA Sonion AcuPass drivers for the Bass range, 2 BA Knowles Custom drivers for the mid-range, and 2 BA Knowles Custom drivers for the treble range.
Although it contains up to 6 drivers, the housing of SA6 is more compact than the SA3 model, with only 3 BA drivers on each side. DUNU Studio SA6 has a 3-hole recessed faucet. Although it looks quite short, the feeling on the ear is very solid and comfortable due to the optimized design shape.
A highlight in the design of DUNU Studio SA6 is the switch on the housing that allows adjusting the sound quality of the ear. There are two modes: Default (1) and Atmospheric Immersion (ON). The changes in sound quality will be analyzed in detail below. What I like about this switch is that you can completely turn it on by hand.
In terms of comfort, the DUNU Studio SA6 is the pinnacle of the top. Molded housing fits like a custom in-ear monitor. That not only makes it comfortable to wear for a long time but also means very good sound insulation.

Conductor
DUNU Studio SA6 is a neat, hand-braided 8-core silver-plated copper wire. The jack and the connector are all covered with polished metal to create a premium and luxurious feel.
The most notable feature of this conductor is that it is equipped with DUNU’s proprietary module that allows you to switch between the 3.5mm SE / 2.5mm BL / 4.4mm BL plug standards. That means you have a rope that is compatible with both Single-End and Balanced standards.
Adjustment switch
As mentioned above, DUNU Studio SA6 has 2 tone control modes: ”Default Signature” and ”Atmospheric Immersion”. Although “Atmospheric Immersion” may sound strange, it means the default sound quality adds a touch of warmth.
The difference is very small, but having one more option is better than nothing.

SOUND QUALITY
The DUNU Studio SA6 has a neutral and linear tone pattern. That is truly a monitoring headset and exactly what you would expect for a headset labeled ‘Studio.’ The first impression is the clarity, clarity, and timbre. Add to that the typical speed in the bass of the BA driver and fast top-to-bottom transitions that are what the DUNU Studio SA6 delivers.
Bass
DUNU Studio SA6 has the characteristic bass range of THREE drivers. It’s fast, well-textured, and tightly controlled. There is a little more emphasis on the sub-bass, giving the overall bass range more weight.
Physics limits the depth of bass on the DUNU Studio SA6. As we know, BA drivers cannot generate air pressure like dynamic drivers. The DUNU Studio SA6 reinforces this theory to reproduce sub-basses that can be heard but not felt. The DUNU Studio SA6 offers a much closer audio experience with dynamic drivers than most full-BA headphones I’ve experienced before.
The bass of the DUNU Studio SA6 is enough to please everyone except the bass heads. It has interesting and lifelike nuances in thickness and decay.
Mid
What impressed me most about the mid-range of the DUNU Studio SA6 was the negative color. It is very accurate and produces a neutral, lifelike sound. But don’t think of this as being dry or overly technical. The mid-range is moderately thick and rounded to give a warm, natural sound without being overdone.
Melody Gardot’s “March For Mingus – Live” really highlights the DUNU Studio SA6’s mid-range mastery and tonal accuracy. Real drums, trumpets, pianos, and Melody’s vocals and applause from the live audience.
Treble
An important part of the sound quality of the DUNU Studio SA6 is the treble range. It’s both vibrant and smooth, thick enough yet airy. That is the great treble range you can find in this price range.
It’s bright and transparent enough but somehow still retains the smoothness. The SA6’s treble is smooth but also light and airy. The 6kHz hit combined with the great extension is how the DUNU Studio SA6 produces this amazing treble range.
Soundstage
The soundstage is medium-sized with a slightly forward position. The stage on the SA6 shines in its ability to reproduce the position of the instrument accurately. Separation details on the background of static sound create a lively three-dimensional space. The excellent layering ability allows the DUNU Studio SA6 to create depth and layering for the image.
EPILOGUE
There is no doubt that DUNU Studio SA6 is a version of its junior Studio SA3. It has great balance, dynamics, detail, and clarity.
Although the sound is accurate and uncluttered, it still has a very interesting and natural sound. The DUNU Studio SA6 is not only a great choice for professional studios, but it’s also perfect for audiophiles looking for musical precision. It’s so good that I want to add it to my best IEMs list.
