Design – features

Test Lab found that Canon PowerShot A4000 IS HD is not a “speed” machine, but not too slow. It takes more than 2 seconds to boot and the user will have to wait about 1.5 seconds between two consecutive shots.
The body is small, but sturdy. In addition, the cool metallic cover with a brushed finish on the front gives a sure feel when handling. The display quality of the 3-inch LCD monitor on the back of the camera is average. Color image on the LCD is nothing special and still light dazzling when viewed from an angle. However, in terms of a universal view camera, this is acceptable.
In good light conditions, with the default settings, the maximum image quality of the PowerShot A4000 IS HD can be pretty decent, natural-looking and high-resolution. In “Smart Auto” mode, the machine’s ability to analyze the shooting context is stable and high-precision. The two Face Detection and Face Detection White Balance features of the PowerShot A4000 IS HD work effectively in portraits both indoors and outdoors.

The quality of the shots in low light conditions in “Smart Auto” mode is not much different from night scene mode. The only difference is that the Test Lab has to wait longer because the exposure time in night mode may be longer, depending on the ambient light conditions.
In order to test the Canon PowerShot A4000 IS HD Image Absorption capability, Test Lab is required to switch to Program Auto mode to customize the supported ISO levels such as 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600.
