Crusher ANC is undoubtedly Skullcandy’s most ambitious earphones ever, possessing tons of new technologies on the market. How bad is this product good enough to pay off the waiting time of the user?
Beatbox
The box of the headset is quite large, and still has as much information as other Skullcandy headphones. The version I have here is a new plum red color, and I also have a traditional black version.
Right from the box, we can see an impressive list of technologies integrated into this pair of headphones.
Skullcandy’s shell decoration is quite ‘deep’, with its logo in black, similar to the surrounding shell.
The slogan that the label gave Crusher ANC is ‘Welcome to the deep music space’.
In the box we have a headphone box, of course, there are headphones inside! Attached are 2 3.5mm wires for wired music and a new USB Type-C charger.
Below we have more instruction paper. Normally this is a redundant thing, but with a pair of headsets with more technology like Crusher ANC becomes more important than ever.
Design
It is not an exaggeration to say that Crusher ANC has the best quality and design that Skullcandy has ever made so far. From the moment we look at the pictures provided by the company, we can see this, but when holding the hand, the expectation is confirmed.
We still have a pair of plastic-finished ears, but they’re sturdy and high-quality plastic so it’s solid. Completely able to compare the plastic quality of Crusher ANC with high-end headphones like Sony WH-1000x or Sennheiser PCX550BT!
Around the headset, we have buttons to control music, but the company is careful to equip the sensor on the outside to turn on and off active noise canceling technology.
Right next to the buttons are USB Type-C and 3.5mm charging ports.
Flip to the other side, we have the power button along with a very large pull button used to control technology called Sensory Bass – we will learn more in the next section. It must be recognized that a pair of earphones that have a pull button looks really ‘cool’ because there is no company on the market with this design at all, most of which are software controlled!
The earcups and head cushions are made in the same color as the ears, and practical use is very soft. The weather is very cool, so I can’t test whether these headphones are hot or not, but it seems that the company has used good, well-ventilated leather so this probably will not happen.
Technology
I have repeated many times that these headphones are packed with many modern technologies, so what are these technologies? Crusher ANC includes 4 main technologies, including:
– Integrated Tile chip for quick search by exclusive software of Tile. When in use, the headset will emit a sound like a bird singing for the user to find out where it is. If it is too far, we can also search with a map on the smartphone.
– Sensory Bass: According to the company announced, it is a technology that helps us ‘feel the bass’, and when used in practice, we understand that this is a bass enhancement technology accompanied by vibrating with the beat, has also been applied to some of its previous headphones. But the motor used in Crusher ANC is of very good quality, so the effect is so much more convincing!
Active noise cancellation ANC: The headphones will use the external microphones to record the environment, then emit reflections to suppress them. Skullcandy Crusher ANC’s ANC noise-canceling is at an acceptable level, which can calm many annoying sounds but will still lose to products like Sony WH-1000xm3 or Bose QC35 II, this is still are hard to overturn ‘monuments’ in ANC technology.
– The last technology is to adjust the sound according to the user’s hearing, quite similar to Mee Audio’s Earboost technology, allowing the user to experiment with a few sounds to know which frequency band we are most sensitive to, from there adjust accordingly. Each person will have a unique experience with this technology, because each person will have a different type of hearing, with a sound quality assessment we will choose the default sound quality.

Sound quality
As mentioned above, the Sensory Bass technology not only enhances the vibrations but also increases the bass of the headset, so the final sound quality of Skullcandy Crusher ANC depends on the user to pull that button. On the bottom rung, Crusher ANC for bass is quite similar to recent Skullcandy products, still more than average but with more control. For me, the most ‘beautiful’ bass level is in the middle, when the bass is ‘dropped’, there is more volume, combined with the very impressive vibrations of the headphones to create a very vibrant music space. For the ‘fans’ of the old Skullcandy sound quality, surely will like the highest level, with an extremely large amount of bass, long-tail length, and the ability to vibrate also pushed to the strongest. Everyone will have a bass level that suits them best, and Crusher ANC puts this option on the user’s mind, not the manufacturer!
With a pair of headphones that can be said to specialize in the bass (bass-head), Crusher ANC has a comfortable middle part and is easy to hear. This part is of course slightly pushed back to give up the ‘bright spot’ for the bass, but with enough detail to round the rim. This mid-section best serves R&D or Lo-fi songs like Joji’s Slow dancing in the dark, with a seasoned vocalist that does not stand out from the music, but blends into one to create harmony. Of course, for those who like a bright mid-sound, which is more inclined to ‘real’ voices in Jazz, Ballad has not come to Skullcandy, there are quite a few other brands that are more suitable for this sound type!
Like Skullcandy’s recently released headphones, Crusher ANC has made certain advances in treble reproduction, but this is still not the ‘mainstream’ sound strip, so it’s not too prominent. In Highway to hell of the AC / DC group, the treble is still visible but often lacks a bit of brightness, just enough as a background for other negative bands. The bass tuning bar also has an effect on the treble, so those who buy these headphones and want the most powerful treble should be ‘light-handed’ with the bass tuner!
The price is “high” but very worth the fan
As usual, the high price means that users get a lot of money, in this case, Tile ear search technology, noise cancellation, hearing measurement, bass vibration, and especially ultrasonic quality strong characteristics. If you are already a fan of Skullcandy, then upgrading to this pair of headphones is probably of course.
