Design and wearing experience

Tanchjim One has a housing designed quite similar to the Zero version. The housing is separated into two compartments, of which: The rear compartment is made from high-quality aluminum alloy and the front compartment is made of transparent medical-grade plastic.

The bullet-shaped design and light weight help Tanchjim One bring a very comfortable, snug and smooth wearing feeling. The duct on the headset is arranged to one side to help increase the fit when wearing the headset on the ear. The rear metal cavity has a roughened surface to limit fingerprint adhesion. Tanchjim’s unique logo and the name ONE will be printed prominently on the faceplate.

The cable section on Tanchjim One is both a difference and an upgrade when compared to Zero. The cable is designed to be slim and detachable, allowing users to easily replace it in the future. The cable uses a 2-pin 0.78mm connector and a 3.5mm jack. The cable can be customized to suit your preference for wearing in-line or ear-hook.

Similar to Zero, an integrated anti-interference filter will be mounted in the sound duct. In addition to filtering dirt, this filter also absorbs, disperses and eliminates negative vibrations. Thereby reducing the resonance amplitude, increasing the smoothness of the audio signal.

The rear sound chamber is designed with a three-layer structure (Triple Composite) to control low-frequency audio signals and create deep, solid and powerful bass drops. Not stopping there, the surface inside the sound chamber is made super smooth to minimize resonance at ultra-high frequencies, increasing the clarity of the treble range.

Driver configuration and sound quality

Tanchjim One will be equipped with a driver configuration including 1 10mm dynamic driver in each ear. The driver’s speaker membrane will have a dome structure and is made from PU + PEEK composite material. In terms of parameters, One will operate at 16Ohm impedance, have a sensitivity of 126dB and a frequency response range of 7Hz – 45kHz.

Compared to Zero, Tanchjim One is tuned in a more neutral direction and has a clearer, stronger, stronger bass range. The volume in the bass range is spread evenly from subbass to midbass. Not only the response speed but even the decay speed becomes faster when compared with Zero. The enhanced bass range makes the One’s overall sound richer and more solid. However, the bass on Tanchjim One is not for bassheads.

Moving to the mid range, there is no band encroachment in any music. Therefore, the mid sound is very clear, clean and has good detail. The low mid section is neatly adjusted and has moderate depth. Meanwhile, the upper mid is clear, airy and sharp. With such tuning, One plays both male and female vocals as well as musical instruments well. The singer’s voice is placed in the center of the stage while the musical instruments act as the background for the vocals. This makes the sound stage more realistic and impressive.

The treble range on Tanchjim One, although expanded quite well, is a bit lacking in brightness. This unintentionally causes the instrument part in the treble range to have not really good detail and sharpness. But there is still praise for One’s quite good accessibility.

In terms of technical performance, One has many similarities with Zero. The layering ability is really clear and outstanding compared to many other headphone models in the same price range. The high-definition sound image leads to the ability to position instruments and vocals very accurately. However, the soundstage on the One is not as wide and airy as the Zero. But overall, the soundstage is not too narrow.

Compare

Vs Tanchjim Zero

Both One and Zero have a neat design and provide a comfortable wearing feeling. But with the easily detachable cable on One, users can replace or upgrade the cable in the future. Meanwhile, replacing cables on the Zero will become more difficult.

In terms of sound quality, Zero has a more neutral sound and a cleaner soundstage. However, Zero’s timbre is a bit thin and not as thick as One. One’s sound quality is stronger, more vibrant and fuller thanks to the added bass. While Zero has the advantage in the female vocal part thanks to the treble and upper mid range being better refined, smoother, and more detailed. As for One, the low mid part is warmer, lighter and thicker, helping it perform male vocals better. Another small difference between these two headphones is that the sound stage on the Zero is a bit more open and spacious.

Vs Moondrop Chu II

In terms of design and level of completion, Chu II is clearly superior to Tanchjim One. The metal housing of the Chu II feels more solid and durable. However, One’s compactness and lightness provides a more comfortable and comfortable wearing experience. The cables on Chu II are also better completed.

Both have interesting sound quality and good mixing ability thanks to the enhanced bass range. But Chu II proved to be weaker than One in terms of technology. In addition to having more detailed resolution, the One also has a more spacious and deeper sound stage.

Possessing a detachable cable along with sound quality tuned to a new style with more bass, Tanchjim One is a quality choice for those who have a hobby of listening to music and love in-ear headphones with a traditional bullet design.
